Finally, if you're into 1990s lo-fi college rock with emphasis on strong melodies and the occasional heavier song, check out my band from long ago, The Hooded Crow:

As for my own recommendations for Bandcamp Friday, I would like to drop a mention of the local-to-me label/collective Zeevonk, which puts out a lot of tasty lo-fi indie rock and post-punk:

I'm enjoying "Season One" by Weird Youth: https://weirdyouth.bandcamp.com/album/season-one
But take some time and check them all out.

People typically don't! What people use AI for is a good indicator of what they find uninteresting or unimportant.
Watching a guy play guitar on YouTube and suddenly I'm like "Honey, you need to turn that reverb down and drive that sound a little more" (later on, I get the second half of that wish).
That never happens! I guess I've been paying attention to guitar tones a lot, subconsciously.

This resonates so much with me because this is how I went from being a very bright kid to an adult with mediocre skills.

Students make all kinds of educational fumbles because of this metaphor: cramming for tests, focusing on quantity of information over quality of experience, overvaluing passive-receptive consumption-shaped learning and undervaluing sustained, productive struggle, etc etc.
But it’s not just education, as the article shows.
I could ramble on, but it’s time for a TV show with my wife — so I leave the detailed analysis of this remarkable clause as an exercise for the reader:
“Some of the company’s most experienced personnel left before all of their accumulated knowledge could be fully transferred into Ford’s automated systems.”
Spot the metaphor, and bonus points for teasing out what the passive voice there hides.

@xinit@mastodon.coffee @harris@social.coop The article compares the look of the new series to "the new movies run through an AI filter" and that tracks.
On second thought, let's not go to the Fediverse. It's a very silly place.

Why do things this way? Well, artists don't get paid for streams on Bandcamp - that site is strictly a store and streaming is there to help make sales. But if I stream on Qobuz, they get paid a little for that.
Also, Qobuz streams get scrobbled so they get extra visibility on places like last.fm. It's not a lot but it's better than nothing.

This means that I'm gonna be inactive in #FAWM for another week, but comics-making will start up again, I hope.

@jk@mastodon.social Same here, especially considering that I'm really crap at hating Facebook.
