@mcpinson @davidrevoy now i'm imagining what ariadne's "thread" was just metaphorically named, but was a device that kept theseus alive through the labyrinth by slowly replacing bits of him with leftover bits of the minotaur's victims that he would find along the way

@rowb1t @julesh @pettter despite my emoji react i can see what you're getting at but that's how i feel anyway
going back to that law analogy it's like saying you do family law and everyone thinks you're getting paid by abusive deadbeat dads to help get them custody of the kids to spite their exes when most of your work is tax planning for a mixed couple's estate plan

@jonmsterling @julesh knowing how an LLM works seems like a pretty important part of a general computer science education
but i worry how many curricula out there would just get turned into training courses on how to "prompt engineer" the generous donor's product

@gifs_bot@mas.to it took me a moment to remember that bloom county was from an era where "mother" is often a colloquial shorthand for "motherfucker" and this was not (likely) a surrealist piece in which hodge-podge accepts (then comprehensively rejects) the Machine to be their maternal guardian and life-giver

@mzedp @Adrenochrome the inconsistency here was the smoking gun for me... surely the splashy bits would be moving slower than the falling raindrop (which is somehow *that* close to the one that just hit)...

you can, on the other hand, also completely ignore that flatpaks exist and still run most debian stuff just fine
(fourth bullet point was a jumpscare tbh)

@june@ublog.kimapr.net i blame guys like that throughout the 2010s for why the 2020s are as fascist as they are
just.... so much authoritarianism and disgust-morality laundered through hyperwoke virtue signalling...

@liaizon@social.wake.st even if the org needed some kind of central head person to coordinate things, i feel like they would attract much less attention from the worst sorts of human beings on earth if they'd change the position name to idunno jannyhead or something
(thinking about this thing i read a while ago about how they tried to replicate the stanford prison experiment, changed the wording of the recruitment ad to be about psychology rather than prison and the people who showed up were just chill)

@promovicz @julesh it seems like learning how to draft a binding employment NDA/arbitration clause in law school for a big company
you should definitely at least have some idea what that sort of thing is and how it works (and how it doesn't work), but you could end up in a field where it's irrelevant and it shouldn't be taught at the expense of more fundamental things
(and meanwhile everybody with any sense wishes the world had no demand for such things)
