@thathackergirl@m.bmorepunk.social @IveyJanette@mastodon.social From housing discrimination, the Central Park Five, racist statements in interviews and birtherism, to unsubtle racist campaign messages, Trump has always been an out and proud white supremacist. And the majority of white Americans ate his shit up like it was candy in 2016 (and couldn't wait to do it again in 2024).

@chrisgeidner@journa.host Who could have imagined that overturning decades of settled law in service to business interests, white Christian supremacy and a demented pedophile dictator might be seen as political?

@mxchara@seattle.pink I'm probably going to be in the minority, but I've had an affinity for Gnome Shell since it was first released. I like the simplicity, polish, workflow and dynamic workspaces. I haven't always agreed with the decisions the Gnome team has made, but it hasn't stopped me from using the DE. I also have a soft spot for XFCE, which I've used for my special needs computers in the past, and still run on a 2012 Latitude laptop.

@Sempf A lot of small businesses, too. As someone who has never signed up for any Meta products, it's infuriating that people think it's a given that you have a Facebook account.

@MaryAustinBooks@mstdn.social @FaithinBones@mastodon.social That’s what I was thinking. These are the same Christofascist kooks who blamed hurricanes on God getting big mad that the US allowed same-sex couples to get married.

@hp@mastodon.tmm.cx @cstross@wandering.shop I like Gnome Shell, too. There are dozens of us! Dozens!

@Strandjunker Have you shopped for a superyacht recently? Inflation has been brutal and a billion just doesn't go as far as it used to. Won't someone think of the billionaires?

@SomeGadgetGuy@techhub.social He's also cozying up to an administration that would really, really love to unperson LGBTQ+ people. I'm sure there were a lot of rich, well connected Jews in Germany who continued to think that bad things were only going to happen to other Jews - right up until the moment their property was confiscated and they were shoved into a cattle car.

@scalzi Maybe if enough people buy them Tim apple will give Trump another trophy. Is that discouraging enough? PS I’m tempted to buy one too. They’re so cute and colorful.

@JaneinNJ @Nonilex It's eugenics writ large. If you are unable to shovel slop into the maw of capitalism, Republicans want you dead.

@g@irrelephant.co @dacmot@sunny.garden @evacide@hachyderm.io While I have no quarrel with Teen Vogue, the fact that they have more journalistic integrity than the New York Times and the Washington Post is a damning indictment of the state of the media in the US.

@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net In spite of my cynicism and concern that 2000 election spoiler Ralph Nader helped to write this legislation, the articles are a plainly-written and thorough summary of Trump's offenses. It's worth taking the time to read.

@riggbeck@mastodon.social @parisba@cloudisland.nz And/or @arstechnica@mastodon.social . They've carried stories about individuals being screwed over by big tech in the past.

@cstross@wandering.shop Squee! Can't wait to read it!

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I get there's a lot of distracting gold crap, but no one's going to mention the scale model of his half-billion dollar bribe on display right in front of them?

@ct_bergstrom@fediscience.org But I can't afford to buy macadamia nuts at the store because they're too expensive.

@Manigarm@mastodon.social She's adorable!

@crow @bodil #Debian was the easiest transition for me when I moved away from Ubuntu. Aside from dealing with Debian's old-school installer (depending on the installation method you choose) and having to add a couple of Gnome Shell extensions, you'll hardly notice a difference in day to day use.

@SallyStrange@eldritch.cafe I know zero ASL, but I still guessed what it said before I even looked at the alt text. A sad but true indicator of my current state of mind.

@petergleick@fediscience.org RFK Jr is a crank. The world is full of them. The blame lies with the man who nominated him and the Republican Senators who confirmed him. If there was any justice in the universe, they'd all contract a debilitating disease that could have been prevented with a mRNA vaccine.

@petergleick@fediscience.org I'm going to have to come up with something more sober than "I'm opposed to allowing the demented Nazi toddler currently spreading feces all over the White House to throw his shit at the rest of DC. He needs a bath, a binkie, a nap and restraints. Plus, the arch is ugly as fuck."

@Haste@mastodon.social @DeliaChristina@sfba.social It's a polling question designed to sow division in the Democratic coalition. No real-world Democratic redistricting effort would proceed without input from communities of color, if for no other reason than that's where a lot of Democratic political power resides.

@TechCrunch@mstdn.social So all the big tech opposition to Trump during his first term was performative and they were all just waiting for the Nazis to consolidate power before they pledged their fealty? Don't be evil my fucking ass!
