Huh. Just came across a profile that said "if you don't like unsolicited advice please block me" and I super appreciate that, but I still don't get it. They said they don't like seeing people have a problem that they could help with, but why not offer _solicited_ advice? "Hey, I have some relevant info/experience here, are you interested?" Why does it feel better to give it as both an unsolicited interaction, and as advice (as opposed to info/experience)?

Finally!! After many walks in the hopes of seeing bandicoots (which are increasingly common in my parents' neighbourhood), my boys have seen one :)

Yay!! I was doing some weeding out the front and discovered that the successful grevillea hasn't completely crowded out the little morning iris plant: it's still there, and actually looking quite substantial! I have pruned around it so that it can get a bit of sunshine and air flow 😍

Watching a bear mama and 2 cubs grazing on grass in the sunshine on the other side of the world, in real time. The internet still has good bits 🥰

My poor husband has been fasting for a blood test, and just sat waiting for an hour in the waiting room only to be told he has been fasting for too long 😭 That would have been helpful information for someone to have given him with the pathology form?? 😭

An interesting thing from the hospital experience: a lot more healthcare workers seem to be familiar with POTS now. It sometimes confused them more when I said the whole thing instead of abbreviating it 😅 Brace yourself for the irony though: I'd say they know more about POTS now than they do about covid 🫠 Many baffled reactions to my respirator, had to explain a bunch of things to people who absolutely should know more about it than I do 🙃

The chronic illness depression of scrolling by someone describing a thing you used to do and would dearly love to still do as "requiring nothing, just a little time". I am genuinely very happy for people who are so well that they can take for granted that time itself is enough to do a thing, and not have to think about wellness and energy etc. I have so much time. It's really not that useful when you need to spend most of it lying down 🙃

Unpopular opinion with some of you apparently: people should be able to have the tech gadgets which make their lives easier in non-harmful ways, without having to have the crappy surveillance tech etc etc which often hitchhikes along with it. Great for you if you are fine with non-"smart" tech, and you should get to keep that option, but there is smart tech which provides important accessibility tools and we should get to keep that, too.

Watching a UK<>Australia Christmas houseswap movie. It's pretty decent tbh: the English girl who went to Aus mentioned finding a huge spider in the toilet, and the chap who owns the house said "you didn't hurt him did you?? That's Nigel, he takes care of all the small, dangerous spiders!" Accurate af 😅

Oh yeah I just remembered another daft thing that happened in the hospital. I had to ask a couple of times if it was okay to take the painkillers I brought with me because my period was due. I got reactions like: but you're on menopause hormonal treatment?? Why are you still having periods?? Good fucking grief Australian HCW are bad at perimenopause 😱

#ActuallyAutistic pals, does anyone have an info dump for me on improving interoception? I'm sure it would be beneficial for my kiddo to learn meditation or practice something like Pilates (I recall reading that improving proprioception improves interoception), but so far we've not had the energy for those things. What else helps develop interoception?
