#gardening #jardin #garten #garden I grew this pomegranate from seed!! Its parent was “California White.” Pomegranates don’t come true from seed but seeds don’t produce vastly inferior fruit like the way apples do. Obviously this is no where close to being a white pomegranate so I get naming rights. What should I call it? Was thinking PommyPomPom Sparkle Unicorn Puppy

#solarpunksunday #solarpunk #photovoltaik #GreenEnergy Mexican startup, Greenfluidics produces a solar panel made with certain strains of algae, water and photovoltaic cells. The panels generate energy AND capture CO2. For every 1kg of algae, 2k of carbon will be captured. The biomass created are periodically filtered and can be used as fertilizer. As for energy, it produces comparable rates to current solar panels some of which is used to keep the installation going. https://greenfluidics.com...

#citrus #gardening #jardin #garten #garden It was a bad year for yuzus. My tree isn’t very big and squirrels stole two fruit off of it last spring when they were still small and green. The result is that the one yuzu that ripened is a total honker. The other yuzu is from a friend’s tree. His trees are alternate bearing bc he doesn’t thin the fruit in boom years. Yuzu tea from dried yuzu peel is a biological imperative so I will be bereft this year. 1/2

#solarpunksunday #gardening #garden #jardin #garten Seed grown feijoa results. I have two trees grown from seed and they taste and look different. One is more oval/circular shaped and the other oblong. The oval shaped tastes the best. It tastes like cattleya guava and muscadine grapes and is quite juicy and succulent. It’s better than my pink guava. I’ve named it “chubby baby.” The oblong one tastes like green apple and the peel is kinda resin-y.

Israel is not just committing genocide of people but also cultural and ecological genocide. 90% of Palestinian olive trees have been destroyed in the last few years, farms and livelihoods destroyed. #solarpunksunday #GreenEnergy #photovoltaik #solar https://www.pv-magazine.com/2026/09/30/cubas-pv-capacity-tops-1-4-gw/ Solar generates over a fifth of Cuba’s energy, much of it going to necessary infrastructure such as hospitals, clinics, radio, etc. “Cuba has installed 1.42 GW of solar capacity across 144 photovoltaic plants and expects to exceed 1.5 GW by the end of 2026. Renewables now account for 21.4% of electricity generation, while the country is also expanding energy storage and so...

#solarpunksunday #gardening #garden #jardin #garten #peppers So it’s this week peppers are showing stress from the Nor’easter 8-10 days ago. A lot of pepper and leaf drop. “Royal burgundy” beans? More like black. 😄 In other news, I ordered 16 new varieties of pepper for next year and another grower wants to trade seeds with me. Someone needs to save me from myself. 😭🤣

#solarpunksunday #gardening #garden #jardin #garten #ClimateChangeGardening 1/2🧵 Leaf harvest: sweet potato leaves, papalo and muscadines. This is the last harvest for muscadines before they start to turn yellow. This is the first round for SP and the papalo got pulled bc the plants broke off from the base in the Nor’easter. My oven will only accommodate a few trays at a time so I can only collect enough in a day that will fit. It takes around 12h to dry SP leaves at 140F.

#solarpunksunday #solar #photovoltaik #GreenEnergy 6 papers came out this spring and summer about breakthroughs in perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell technology. Perovskite can catch higher energy light than silicon and so improves energy capture/efficiency. Key to the improvements shown in the papers is durability with thousands of hours of field testing in ambient environments as opposed to glove box tests. 5/ If you are expecting to plant this year, you need to fence the entire raised area or animals will raid your plants. Fencing is the biggest expense. After building most of the raised bed pile, it’ll be sloped at an angle. Hammer down fence posts at the bottom of the slope, wrap the fencing around and then fill in the rest of the area up to the fence so that baby bunnies don’t crawl under any loose spaces.

Advice please Rats or squirrels in one night ripped off, ate and vomited out at least 30 peppers. I’m finding separate little piles of puked up peppers in different places.
