@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org Compact Disc, Minidisc, Laser Disc or even something extravagant like a DVD or Blu-Ray?

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org From Papa Irish, songs inspired by me frantically describing the Discworld novels to him via text message: Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper (I don't think he realises how excellent this suggestion truly is, so +1 from me) Paul Young - Wonderland The Outlaws - Ghost Riders In The Sky More from me later. I've been a HUGE Discworld fan since I was thirteen and I want to give this a proper long think. This doesn't necessarily mean my suggestions will be GOOD, obviously. #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org #ThePlaylistSuggestion Because of my limited Pratchett knowledge, I decided to simply look up a list of novels on the old internet, and match some of the titles to good songs. To whit: Doris Troy - Face Up to the Truth (because of the novel The Truth) The Duckworth Lewis Method - The Nightwatchman (because of the novel Night Watch) Pet Shop Boys - Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money) (because of the novel Making Money) And a disc-related bed suggestion: Henri-Pierre Noël - Diskette

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org I've only read one of the books, god knows why. My suggestion is based purely on it being my favourite song title ever, and I reckon it could fit the brief. @DJDarren@mendeddrum.org on the subject of "Discworld" many options for your "Bed"in this playlist of tracks from the classic PC game. I think "The Psychiatrickerist's Office might be calm enough as a background, and only slightly reminiscent of The Girl From Ipanema The list: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD49A7AEB1516C89E Direct link to track https://youtu.be/lLSDO1rjmFc #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org I've read most of the Discworld books but I'm still using this as an excuse to suggest one of the best songs out of Canada ever, because it's about a cop, good vs evil, and fascism vs anti-fascism. @DJDarren@mendeddrum.org Aaaah great theme. One of my absolute favourite authors, so A LOT of suggestions from me this week, sorry, because there is so much awesomeness to pay homage to. Man With The Hex - The Atomic Fireballs Pappa Death - Love and Money She Wolf - Megadeth Wolf Totem - The HU Frying Pan - Mother Mother Resurrection - Moist Start Wearing Purple - Gogol Bordello (which is as close as I can get to I Shall Wear Midnight) Dragon Attack - Queen Ruby - The Kaiser Chiefs I Feel Love - Blue Man Group And this isn't a suggestion, because it is explicitly based on the books and co-written by Pratchett and he also lends his voice to it, and thus it lacks the free-association whimsy which the theme cries out for, but in case anyone is unaware of it: Wintersmith - Steeleye Span https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wintersmith_(album) #ThePlaylistSuggestion #ThePlaylist #GNUTerryPratchett

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org All right, we got there in the end. Dispatch - Circles Around The Sun (because it sounds like a fun, lighthearted song telling a silly fantastical story... and it's actually about state exploitation of the vulnerable) Levellers - Fight or Flight (because the lyrics are about someone who has been beaten down by life and the state and yet stands up and fights for what is right anyway, and it always reminds me of Sam Vimes) Old Gods of Asgard - Children of the Elder God (simply because there's something about a rather silly imaginary metal band created for a series of videogames whose songs and band members play very plot-relevant roles that feels Pratchettian to me. I feel he would have enjoyed the Old Gods.) Funeral for a Friend - Into Oblivion (Reunion) - (because the lyrics remind me of Sam Vimes' struggle to get back to Sybil and his unborn son in Night Watch. and for bonus points, Sir Terry really enjoyed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, to the point he helped write a mod.) #ThePlaylistSuggestion

@DJDarren@mendeddrum.org a bit late - sorry! - but, my #ThePlaylistSuggestion thoughts: 🍳 Deep Blue Something - Breakfast At Tiffany’s 🐈 Steve Miller Band - The Joker (because ‘some people call me Maurice’) 🫸 Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five - The Message (because of what he’s close to) 🎤 Ice-T - O.G.(G) Original Gangster 🍻 Sugababes - Round Round 🐲 Imagine Dragons - Believer (for either Lady Ramkin or Om) …and I suspect that’s all getting tenuous enough!

I don’t really know Discworld never having gotten into it. More to do with not being around when I was younger. I suspect I would enjoy them at some point. Had to do some thinking and research for this one. So here goes: Donovan - Season of the Witch Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley Pretty sure there are witches and the latter is a very tenuous link to Good Omens. @DJDarren@mendeddrum.org #ThePlaylistSuggestion
