While they have you fearing Islam, Christian nationalists are telling women to shut up. They're in Congress writing our laws and attributing this fascism to God. There's no difference between what they're saying and Taliban fascism. Islamic teaching says women are equal partners. The issue isn't religion—it's patriarchy. We have to stand united against this. #ChristianNationalism #WomensRights #Fascism #CivilRights 🎥 @rightwingwatchdotorg on Threads

I just read something on how affordable or free childcare is considered to be instrumental in gender equality. I find that weird. Whether or not you can afford childcare has nothing to do with whom of the parents goes to work and who stays home. Men, on average, are paid better for the same job. That's an issue. Traditional expectations on how cishet couples arrange life are an issue. The way we treat moms vs how we treat dads. That's an issue. The accessibility of childcare is an issue too. But not in regards to gender equality. Think we're blaming the wrong thing here. As per usual. #ChildCare #GenderEquality #WomensRights

James Simpson invented the use of chloroform for pain relief in childbirth in 1847. The religious authorities of the UK were outraged, as the bible clearly says god cursed women to painful childbirth. Pain relief was heresy! Simpson received death threats and chloroform was considered socially unacceptable for years, until queen Victoria availed herself of the technique. The religious argument was never resolved. Society simply decided it couldn't deal with the contradiction of the the church's holy book saying pain was a religious duty, and the head of the church choosing pain relief. So it became a non-issue. I don't think people confronted their moral objections and decided that biblical literalism was harmful. Instead, part of their religious framework became too problematic, so it was simply reclassified as "wasn't important / don't think about it". Thereby enabling the rest of the biblical literalism to retain its ideological dominance. This is neurotypical ethics. 1/2 #womensRights #feminism #religion #lgbtqia #actuallyAutistic

From the National Women's Law Center: Federal grants impact every area of our society. They fund essential health care, education, and housing services for those in need. They fund scientific research that improves everyone’s lives. They fund states to provide the basic services we all depend upon. Now Trump and Vought want to use these services as leverage to force everyone to accept their discriminatory policies. This proposed rule prioritizes a right-wing extremist agenda over programs that support LGBTQIA+ students, address maternal health disparities for Black women, provide services for survivors of domestic violence, expand access to reproductive health care, invest in child care and early learning, and much more. Tell your senators and representative that public funding should serve communities, not political agendas that attack gender justice and democracy. Today I celebrate the dream that is America. One where every person is truly equal. Where the Constitution is not just followed, but respected. Where truth, ethics, compassion, and unity are the standard. Where the voices of #WeThePeople cannot be overridden by anyone. #TheConstitutionMatters #TruthMatters #WomensRights #BlackLivesMatter #GenderEquality #MarriageEquality #DEIMatters #AbolishIce #democracy #freedom #hope #birds #birding #raptors #BirdsOfPrey #BaldEagle #nature #NaturePhotography #SolaceInNature

He called her "baby." Then allegedly worse — two forensic lip readers, both profoundly deaf since birth, reviewed the footage independently and reached the same conclusion. The White House has not denied it. A ribbon-cutting for a reflecting pool. During a war. While gas prices climbed. This is the catalog, not the aberration. #QueerNews #PressFreedom #LGBTQIA #WomensRights #Fascism #News #Politics #Trans

20% of women "might" regret a sterilization procedure, so the NHS often denies access. 1) The "regret" bogeyman is rolled out for any procedure deviating from social norms. For example, gender affirming care has an almost 0% regret rate, but "regret" is still used to gatekeep care. The rate of regret is not the factor. It is resistance to the idea people can choose not to follow the "norm". 2) People can choose things in life knowing they might regret them. The possibility of regret is part of our freedom. Only the person undergoing the procedure can decide if the risk is acceptable to them. 3) A life with regrets is not a lesser life. A life paternalistically shielded from regret is a diminished life. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2026/may/01/female-sterilisation-nhs-access-questions #trans #womensRights #ukpol

In Campbell Town, central Tasmania, they have a statue of Elizabeth Furlong. She was part of a farming dynasty that helped introduce Merino sheep to Australia. I like the way the town commemorate socio economic achievement rather than politico military like so many do. And it's good that the woman of the family gets recognition rather than being erased and eclipsed by her male relatives. #Tasmania #lutruwita #Australia #Statue #Equality #Womensrights
