#ulyssescut

I'd forgotten how thoroughly ruthless and unlikeable the Atoll's inhabitants, along with #KevinCostner's Mariner, start off in this movie, but damn if #JamesNewtonHoward's pirate inspired soundtrack doesn't elevate this with a sense of high adventure. Thankfully #DennisHopper's hillariously villainous Deacon brings an insane levity to the vicious world. Is the #UlyssesCut better? It's got more worldbuilding, but sometimes less is more. #Waterworld #WaterworldUlyssesCut #Movies

@mxchara@seattle.pink All kinds of safety violations on this tanker. 😖 #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

RE: https://mstdn.social/@kcarr2015/111681714603015709 Well that was lovely. Thoughts about the extended cut are about the same as the first time I watched this. 👍 #Monsterdon #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

@diazona@techhub.social It's called the #UlyssesCut. You can look it up on Waterworld's Wikipedia page. I'm watching it now from the Arrow release. It's got 45 extra minutes. I just got a whole extra scene (I think) where the Mariner joins the survivors, leaves by stealing a boat go back to his wreckage, finds Enola's drawings, and comes back to save the survivors from roving Smokers and steals their jetski. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

@diazona@techhub.social That is supposed to be Mount Everest - that's a reveal in the extended cut. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

"We are the Church of Eternal Growth." - Deacon OMG, this ridiculous lines. 😆 #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

Oh crap, the Deacon saw dry land in National Geographic and freaked out! 😆 #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

This vision of a sunken city brought to you by maybe Pepsi? #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

Jeez, is the line about them trying to kill Mariner when he was born in the original movie? That's freakin' dark! #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

As ridiculous as they are, I love almost everything about these catamaran action sequences. 🙏 #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

OMG, there's a short intro scene where the Mariner plays a jazz CD on an old Walkman and some computer speakers with a wind turbine generated electricity. This is just before Helen speaks to Mariner at night about Elona. The Mariner says he doesn't know what "pity" is and Helen has to describe it. Ok, I can see why this was cut. 😆 #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

@diazona@techhub.social This is set just 3 years after the collapse of civilization. People are idiots. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

It's true man, if I lost Jeanne because the deal gone bad I might go a lil' crazy. 😖 #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

@diazona@techhub.social Well, if you un-wet it, it can be dry! It's actually kind of ridiculous, with all the reefs and shallows in our world, that these water dwellers have no knowlege of dirt in the sea bed. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut

Ah, I think I just got another extra scene with the Deacon interviewing the surviving reconnaissance pilot. Think that wasn't in the original but not sure. #MonsterdonDoubleFeature #WaterWorld #MonsterMiru #UlyssesCut
