Porsche Mission S, the concept that foreshadows future supercars – PHOTOS
Porsche unveiled the Mission S in New York, a concept car that anticipates the evolution of the brand’s design and a new family of mid-engine superbikes intended to position itself above the 911. The debut took place in the Queens borough, in the same location where the first examples of the 550 Spyder were photographed in 1953.
The Mission S reprises several elements of Porsche’s tradition, reinterpretating them through reduced proportions and essential surfaces. The flared fenders and circular headlights evoke the 911, while the front end is inspired by the GT1 and the roofline by the 959. At the rear, there is an integrated active spoiler and a cooling fan inspired by the 917. The wheels, on the other hand, take up the distinctive design of the 928.
The interior prioritizes direct interaction with the driver, combining physical controls and digital instruments. Behind the steering wheel are five circular gauges, with a central analog tachometer and variable configuration depending on driving mode. There are no fixed screens in the center console and in front of the passenger: a retractable smartphone support with MagSafe technology is provided for navigation and onboard information.
The prototype falls within the Sportwagenschmiede ’35 strategic plan, through which Porsche intends to develop a new platform for superbikes, as previously stated. It will not be a single model, but an articulated range in multiple variants. Stuttgart-based automaker has yet to communicate mechanical characteristics, performance, prices or commercialization timelines.
