@amydiehl@mstdn.social These young men have mental health issues that are endangering the lives of women around them. They may also be a danger to men around them, the ones who know this kind of behaviour is wrong. On so many levels.
We —men— all have mothers and grandmothers. Some of us have aunts, sisters, daughters, granddaughters, women friends or colleagues. Most of us would not condone the raping of women close to us. Somehow, we’re ok when it happens at a frat party. Or after a hockey game.
I’m not ok with this. It’s one of the reasons I do the work I do.
If you’re a man who is ok with rape or other forms of violence against women, I urge you to get mental health help. This may be the most important step you take for your own happiness and health, and the women you love.
Rape culture is a men’s health issue, and it seriously fucks up our families, communities, and the larger culture.
