I started to tuck the ID badge away, but Lena caught my wrist. “What is that?” She tugged the badge free. “It’s blank.” “Psychic paper. Works great for getting through airport security, too.” (Libriomancer, Magic ex Libris 1, by Jim C Hines) #PocketsReads #MagicExLibris #DoctorWho

“With Nidhi, I learned to love rock climbing and skydiving, country music, fresh malapua, and old episodes of M*A*S*H. Before her, Frank Dearing taught me to love the earth, the feel of the soil, the pride of the harvest, the satisfaction of a long day’s work. Those loves don’t go away, exactly . . . but they fade to make room for the new.” “So if you and I . . .” She winked. “Yes, there’s a good chance you’d turn me into a devoted Doctor Who fangirl.” (Libriomancer, Magic ex Libris 1, by Jim C Hines) #PocketsReads #MagicExLibris #DoctorWho

“What is it with you and brown jackets?” Lena asked. “There were two reasons I wanted that jacket,” I said as I slipped the new one on. It was a little long, but not horribly so. “Doctor Who—the tenth doctor, specifically—was one of those reasons. “And the other?” “Don’t tell me you’ve never seen Firefly?” I shook my head. “You and I have work to do when this is all over.” (Libriomancer, Magic ex Libris 1, by Jim C Hines) #PocketsReads #MagicExLibris #DoctorWho #Firefly

I found nothing that looked like it would destroy metal while leaving her oak intact. The sonic screwdriver from Doctor Who might have worked, having been canonically established as being ineffective on wood, but nobody had ever figured out how to use the controls on the blasted thing. I’m watching the first episode of the first Dalek story, “The Dead Planet”, after mentioning it last night during #TOTP. It is such a good episode of Doctor Who, Hartnell is perfect as the Doctor, and the pacing is sublime. AFAIR the other episodes maybe aren’t paced so well, but I will just have to watch them to find out. #DoctorWho

A quotation from Doctor Who    THE DOCTOR: Adric, I give you a privileged insight into the mystery of time, yes?    ADRIC: Yes.    THE DOCTOR: Open your mind to adventures beyond imagining, yes?    ADRIC: Yes.    THE DOCTOR: And you criticize my logic?    ADRIC: No. No, I’m just saying that a lot of the time you don’t really make sense.    THE DOCTOR: Ah. Ah! Oh, you’ve noticed that, have you? Well, I mean, anyone can talk sense. As long as that’s understood, you and I are going to get on splendidly. Doctor Who (1963–1989) British science fiction television series, original run (BBC) 18X06 “The Keeper of Traken,” Part 1 (1981-01-31) [w. Johnny Byrne] More about this quote: wist.info/doctor-who-1963/8611… #quote #quotes #quotation #qotd #doctorwho #fourthdoctor #criticism #doctorwho #ingratitude #logic #makesense

“Hi,” I said brightly. “I’m here to give you the chance to surrender. I figure it’s what the Doctor would do.” “What doctor?” Potts snapped as he recovered. “Who are you talking about?” “Doctor Who?” I threw up my hands in exaggerated disgust. “Never mind.” (Revisionary, Magic ex Libris 4, by Jim C Hines) #PocketsReads #MagicExLibris #DoctorWho

🔷 You know when sometimes you meet someone so beautiful and then you actually talk to them and five minutes later they're as dull as a brick? Then there's other people, when you meet them you think, "Not bad. They're okay." And then you get to know them and… and their face just sort of becomes them. Like their personality's written all over it. And they just turn into something so beautiful. — Amy Pond, The Girl Who Waited #DoctorWho

🔷 Human progress isn't measured by industry. It's measured by the value you place on a life. An unimportant life. A life without privilege. The boy who died on the river, that boy's value is your value. That's what defines an age. That's what defines a species. — The Twelfth Doctor, Thin Ice #DoctorWho
