Hi Mastodon. We're a small eco resort at the quiet southern end of Saint Martin's Island, Bangladesh's only coral island, a short walk from Chera Dip.
Wooden cottages on stilts, a few tents near the beach, solar panels on site and a lot of stars at night.
We'll post island tips here: tides, ship tickets, the rules that protect the coral. Ask us anything about Saint Martin.

Bangladesh could face mounting risks to its coast, freshwater resources and energy security as new climate research warns that some impacts of global warming are already irreversible and that the choices made today will determine the scale of future damage.
The warning comes from the 10 New Insights in Climate Science 2026/2027, a synthesis of the latest climate research by Future Earth, The Earth League and the World Climate Research Programme

These conditions are not accidental by-products of climate change; they are structured outcomes of an economic model that externalises both ecological and reproductive costs. The global economy continues to operate on the fiction that natural resources and care work are inexhaustible and, crucially, free

Each of these is a product of capital seeking profit, whether through commodity export, cheap energy or infrastructure contracts, with the ecological and social costs displaced onto coastal communities who had no say in the decisions. A homestead garden does not touch shrimp export economics. A community water plant does not renegotiate the Ganges Water Treaty
