Japan has almost 9,000 active registered racehorses at tracks around the country. But after their competitive careers are done, only a lucky few end up at places like TCC Therapy Park, where second careers await. https://www.japantimes.co.jp/life/2026/08/08/lifestyle/horse-racing-retired-therapy-animal-welfare/?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=mastodon #life #lifestyle #horseracing #japanracingassociation #horses #animalwelfare

Think Like a Vegan: Ep.37: Beyond Appeasement: Finding our Ethical Spine edits: description and tags <💬> We need more vegans. We need strategies. But for these to stick, it's the context we must transform. That requires courage. In 1950, Leslie Cross, a Vegan Society founder, wrote veganism was a liberatory movement. This July, the European Court of Human Rights affirmed ethical veganism as a protected belief under Article 9 as not a lifestyle choice, but a serious moral conviction. Courage gets recognised. https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thinklikeavegan/episodes/Ep-37-Beyond-Appeasement-Finding-our-Ethical-Spine-e3pkt4l Mp3 file: https://anchor.fm/s/89f274c8/podcast/play/126562901/https%3A%2F%2Fd3ctxlq1ktw2nl.cloudfront.net%2Fstaging%2F2026-8-30%2F2e91cbba-27ec-955e-1b27-447e4181ce88.mp3#govegan #appeasement #abolition #welfarism #animalWelfare #vegan #ethics #utilitarian #altruism #sentientism@Sentientism@toot.community

Lucy, a Small Soul Trying to Survive in Gaza 🐾🤍 In Gaza, suffering does not belong to humans alone. The war has also left countless animals struggling to survive—without safe shelter, enough food, clean water, or access to veterinary care. Among them is our beloved cat, Lucy. 🐱 Lucy lives with us inside our simple tent. She is not just a pet; she is part of our family. She shares our fear, our hunger, and the uncertainty of each day. Yet despite everything around her, she still brings a little warmth and innocence into our difficult lives. Lucy needs proper food, medical care, and important vaccinations. But with our loss of income and the overwhelming needs of our family, I can no longer provide everything she needs on my own. She, too, is a victim of these circumstances. She deserves to be cared for, protected, and given the chance to stay healthy. Any contribution, no matter how small, can help Lucy receive food and the medical care she needs. 🐾🤍 Please remember Lucy and the countless animals in Gaza who are suffering silently. https://chuffed.org/project/178629-noorhans-gaza-family-rebuild-hope-restore-dignity #Gaza #GazaAnimals #AnimalsInGaza #HelpAnimals #AnimalWelfare #CatsOfGaza #SaveAnimals #Palestine #GazaCrisis #SupportGaza #StandWithGaza #Mastodon #Cats #Humanity #GazaVerified ✅ #Gaza @mutualaid@fedigroups.social@DailyGaza@kolektiva.social @kathimmel@mstdn.social @DrALJONES @simon_brooke@mastodon.scot @wrzky @Majden888@snowfan.it @MajDen@sociale.network @raphaellakay@mastodon.world @eldadoinquieto@mastorol.es @sallytheflame@mastodon.world @unchartedworlds@scicomm.xyz @GRA3432 #Cat #CatsOfMastodon #Caturday 🐱

#AnimalRights#AnimalWelfare

☝️ 5 rokov prázdnych sľubov a 300 miliónov zvierat stále v klietkach. #AnimalRights#AnimalWelfare #Slovensko

[Decentralized, federated platform for dog owners] I haven’t been able to get this idea out of my head for a while now. 😩😁 Why are there centralized platforms for dog owners—but no open, decentralized alternative? 🤔 What if clubs, animal shelters, dog training schools, or local communities could run their own instances while still being interconnected, based on ActivityPub, similar to the Fediverse? 😃 Possible features could include: 🐶 Dog profiles 🚶 Walks & meetups 📍 Dog parks & local spots ⚠️ Poisoned bait and hazard alerts 🔎 Missing & found dogs The focus would be on data sovereignty, local communities, and open standards instead of a centralized platform. 😉 Attached is a preliminary concept diagram to make the idea more tangible. I’d be interested to know: Would you use something like this, or even help build it? ⁉️ 🙄 #Fediverse #ActivityPub #OpenSource #SelfHosting #Dogs #DogLovers #AnimalWelfare #Community #Idea

🐈💔 This is Lucy. Lucy is more than just a cat—she is a living soul trying to survive in the middle of unimaginable hardship. She is hungry. She needs food. She urgently needs medical care. Every day without help leaves her weaker, and watching her suffer breaks our hearts. If you have kindness to spare, please don't overlook Lucy. Even the smallest act of compassion can fill her empty stomach and give her a chance to recover. Please help feed Lucy and provide the medical care she desperately needs. Every share and every donation truly matters. Thank you for standing with the voiceless. ❤️🙏 https://chuffed.org/project/019db787-6a8d-7312-8d45-b6b60814e386 #Gaza #CatsOfMastodon #SaveGazaPets #AnimalWelfare #HelpGazaPets #GazaCats #Donate #AnimalRescue #قطط_غزة #غزة #gaza #genocide #palestine #gazaverified #gazagenocide #Help #Donate #share #quote #Gaza #Humanity #HelpUsSurvive #MutualAidRequest #MutualAidBoost #HelpFolkslive @mutualaid #helpsky #food #usa #helping #City of Unfinished #Dreams.💔 #Gaza #Humanity #gaza_help #genocide #Israel #freepalestine #freeGaza #fyp #gazaverified #mastodon 🙏 #Palestine #SaveGaza #ChildrenUnderAttack #StopTheWar #Donations #Donation #Charity #Fundraising #Crowdfunding #Nonprofits #SocialGood #DoGood #ClimateAction #Cats #CatsOfMastodon #MutualAid #Donation #Charity #Fundraising #NGO #CharityTuesday #BloodDonation

Rok. #AnimalRights#AnimalWelfare#Slovensko

Animal Welfare vs Rights: The Great Ethical Divide Most people use “animal welfare” and “animal rights” as if they mean the same thing. They do not. The difference decides how far you are willing… 🐢 🦎 🐠 🐾 ⚖️ 🌱 https://exotastic.earth/animal-welfare-vs-rights/ #AnimalWelfare #AnimalRights #AnimalWelfareVsRights #AnimalSentience #FiveDomains #FiveFreedoms #EthicalPetKeeping #ExoticPets #ReptileCare #AquariumHobby #AnimalConsciousness #CrueltyFree #AdoptDontShop #ExotasticEarth #EvidenceBasedCare

🔥 #AnimalRights#AnimalWelfare#Slovensko

‼️ Európska komisia zbabelo cúva a namiesto zákazu kožušinových chovov plánuje len sprísniť podmienky. Žiadna väčšia klietka ani mäkšia podlaha nenahradí slobodu a divočinu, do ktorej tieto zvieratá patria. 🦊🌲 Krutosť sa nedá vymazať lepšími podmienkami. 📢 Musí sa zakázať! Požaduj Európu bez kožušín! 👉 europabezkozusin.sk #AnimalRights#AnimalWelfare#Slovensko
