Took a lot of work, but finally got hardware accelerated video decoding working in #Waterfox with #NVIDIA on #Linux. Stale packaging in #Mint bit me in the ass and I had to rebuild the `nvidia-vaapi-driver` from source to get the newest version that finally worked with the v595 graphics driver. Feeling pretty smug right now. :smug:

Even though I'm a believer in (the truth of) the Hasanabi Doctorine, but I'm not sure that #Iran really needs a nuclear weapon if they can shut down a single waterway, bomb a couple of oil refineries in neighboring countries, and bring about the end times. Seems like that *is* their nuke.

Turns out ReaderLM was too small a model to accurately transcribe dates. Moved to a deterministic translation method. Works perfectly now.

Second, their use of copyrighted material is purely transformational; the new form is entirely different than the component parts. That fits any sane definition of "fair use".
Whether or not Anthropic is a good company or not is a different argument. All companies are evil in some way or another. That's the nature of capitalism. But your claim of theft is resting on some philosophical assumptions that aren't universal.

My local library has a nice calendar page with event filters for age group, location, etc. But no #RSS or #ICS feed, just non-standard #HTML formatted search results. So I'm currently wrangling #Codex into writing a middle-man service that uses ReaderLM-v2 to standardize the results into json, which can then be served as ICS data for calendar readers.

In case any of you #AI #nerds need a #BERT model trained to score toxicity in text, I took the time to train one myself that has a proper and permissive #Apache2 license. All the ones I found that did this weren't licensed and therefore not suitable for public distribution.
