Hi All Probably u might have seen me in #Nix and #NixOS communities. I'm planning to start content creations covering nix for newbies to nix for experienced users as well. I'm planning first on posting a general Bird's eye view video covering all the possibilities and mental model of nix. And probably a separate video for NixOS other projects. And then slowly I'll explain small to big stuffs and we'll do a lot of projects etc together I guess on the way. #contentcreation #ksv236

Hi All I'm taking a workshop about Nix shells on July 24th. Nix is one of the most impactful ecosystem in the history of software industry. No hype, these words won't even justify how the paradigm is fundamentally a game changer for tons of things from DevOps, system Administration, System state management, project management, IT devices management, clusters of devices, kubernetes, containers etc etc The best way to start with this ecosystem of cool paradigm is nix shells. #nix #nixshell

@Saorsa@neondystopia.world I aim to see one day where people can configure in the language of choice like nix or guix or anything else and choose the underlyingSystem = nix/guix and just like that it's enough to convert my whole os to guixos from nixos. Far dream, but since both systems are OS as Code, it's possible. #nix #nixos #guix #guixos #OS #linux

Bots are dead set on their goals 😂 Not even AI, just same order of automated messages.

And really sad to see many fall for this scam. Especially by leveraging unemployment fear, job security fear etc etc and using the word HR and meant to recruit.

Leveraging someone's #FOMO for their selfish reasons angers me to be honest 😑

@mitchellh@hachyderm.io Atuin is pretty awesome for history management. Since I use nushell , it has its own history. So I made a hook in my nushell config so that atuin and nushell both have the same history and so I can manage history using atuin in one place😁 Whoever's using atuin and nushell can benefit from this small hook in the config. My config: https://github.com/vivekanandan-ks/ksvnixospcconfigs/blob/76754f8fd949482c22c79a7664247bd9f4062236/homeModules/shells-hm.nix#L241 @atuin@hachyderm.io @nushell@hachyderm.io #atuin #nushell #nu #shell #history #config

@jean_dupont@mastodon.social U don't have to ditch fish shell 😃. Nushell's external completion options let us use any completions as we like. Like carapace, fish or any custom completions. I use fish completions in nushell for some commands. Coz nushell completions are still not that good compared to fish as of now. #nushell #fish #shell #completions

@thibaultmol@en.osm.town I tried this back some months ago. But I'm not using it now though it's very good. Coz the UX I want is like to suggest the fix automatically after the failure in the prompt. And I can just press a key ro activate it or just ignore it. Of course it should be optional Just my personal UX expectation😅

(2/2) I also plan to explain how this revolutionary system shifts the paradigm for servers and workstations, embedded Linux etc and how it avoids system drift and make things reproducible and reliable How it's the best distro for developers, DevOps, Platform engineering, IT and Server administration etc See you all at the event. 🤝Always love to connect with curious and passionate people #nix #nixos #FOSS #chennai #conference #chennaifoss #chennaifoss2026

@MakerTube@mastodon.social I'm thinking of making some nixos, nix based contents. Videos might be both longer and shorter (max 1 or 2 hours if any live session planned). So can I host this in MakerTube? 🤔 😅Also does Auto Live captions will be generated?

Club some rooms then, u have space, and u can have another space inside a space. It's just that good. This way any rooms in a space can be decoupled or just replicated to another space. This is really a cool potential IMO. This is really useful for organisations for teams and chat management. Checkout @cinnyapp client based on @matrix #matrix #cinny #messaging #chat #management Suggest me any such clients for matrix, xmpp, nostr etc

@64bithero@mstdn.games I feel silence here a lot. But I agree with you. Those people might be hungry for followers count , reach etc. Honestly, this is a better place to reach audience, coz of many instances & platforms from a single place. It really have that powerful potential. So typical algorithm driven platforms made them to think that higher impressions & followers, reach etc means actual growth. They are simply misguided by the habits from those bad algorithm driven platforms. #mastodom #fediverse

Was just checking out some tvix talks, the tvix-store is certainly attractive with even the replit blog mentioning about 90% storage reduction in cache storage. Even devenv switched to tvix.

But I couldn't see any docs on how can I start using it in my nixos or atleast for nix shells, etc

Am I missing out something or any views on this would help me

@bryan@dusty.ninja After some real basic remote access use cases I tried tailscale for a while and after checking out netbird coz it felt more batteries included and more customisations through UI and of course it's fully self hostable and open source. But I still follow the release notes of tailscale on their new releases. #netbird #tailscale #WireGuard #vpn #SelfHosting #networking

@Mastodon@mastodon.social Maybe also give a deeplink like thing which will let me open my account's toot editor with the blog link, that'll make things quicker and will have a standardized approach too for many clients to adopt. Maybe an interim browser extension or an app in mobile to redirect such things in our mastodon account app / webapp. #Mastodon #Fediverse #instance #sharing

@Saorsa@neondystopia.world Recently came upon guixpkgs: https://fzakaria.com/2026/06/25/guixpkgs-every-guix-package-as-a-nix-flake So step by step we are closer to convergence of both systems where one can use any and end user can migrate with just 1 or few lines in their config❤️ Since both systems are a pure functional code, I think that characteristic itself made them easily portable/bridgeable/interoperable as language agnostic system. #nix #guix #nixos #guixos #Linux
