@mia@movsw.0x0.st @navi@social.vlhl.dev I wish smartcard readers had caught on in laptops, like we should be able to pay for stuff online just by inserting a debit card into the computer (or waving it over an NFC transceiver) then typing a pin into a standard HTML payment form type

@mia@movsw.0x0.st @navi@social.vlhl.dev @sun@shitposter.world I use client certificates with a smartcard at work and it works very smoothly in Linux once set up but figuring out how to get it working was a nightmare

@demha@comp.lain.la Those thermite drones are neat but seem pretty useless, too slow and visible for what they do

@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com Neglecting your wife and child hits different when you think you're building God huh

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz Oof good luck

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz I love how people will say stuff like that then not learn a language or read poetry

@ug@brain.worm.pink At this point I feel nothing but disgust for the entire discipline of software """engineering""" and I hope all modern software infrastructure crashes and burns in the most devastating way possible There's something almost awe-inspiring about people so mind-bogglingly incompetent that they manage to completely negate multiple orders of magnitudes of hardware performance improvement

@drew@social.freebitcoin.gay Missing Drew DeVault, the asshole who stirs up pointless drama in order to distract from the fact that he jerks off to sexualized drawings of literal children

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz What language are you learning?

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz Only way to not rent in the "land of the free" is to live nomadically on federal land in an uninsured and paid off RV or caravan, moving every two weeks

@pwm@darkdork.dev Yeah

@RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co If you average the vectors of the embedding of every slur together you would reach the platonic ideal of the slur; the Eigenslur

@vivi@movsw.0x0.st If it has loads of armor and a canon on top it's a tank

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz Tranny chasers

@kernow@clubcyberia.co Fall in love with someone you can actually be with

Sometime around 1500 years ago the Anglo-Saxon dialect of Proto-Germanic underwent palatalization which, among other things, shifted /k/ → /g/ This can be seen very visibly in English between duplicated indigenous West Saxon words and Old Norse loanwords (which weren't palatalized) like "shirt" "skirt" and "ditch" "dyke" Because of this we can say, to a pretty good degree of certainty, that Æthelwulf of Wessex would've said "glug glug glug" and Alaric the Goth would've said "gluck gluck gluck"

@apropos@fsebugoutzone.org @prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer Protonmail is an overpriced honeypot that doesn't work with normal email clients

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz They should burn him at the stake for cavorting with demons

@paul@notnull.space @dbattistella@mstdn.ca That isn't Anthropic's argument, they're following the orders of a judge who's attempting to allow continued training while also maintaining the fiction of "intellectual property" so that the normal people get fucked from two different directions at once

@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com glug glug glug

@RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co Yes, nearly everyone I know is in some kind of debt If you don't have student loans, drive a paid off shitbox (or don't drive at all), and have a thousand dollars or so saved up you're doing better than 90% of people our age

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz Last time someone did the "I have nothing to hide" routine I told him to take off his clothes It didn't change his mind but the look on his face was really funny

@newt@stereophonic.space That's a very random selection of posts

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz @ug@brain.worm.pink That's not the argument I'm making at all; I'm saying enjoyment of sex comes from both affection and physical pleasure (which doesn't just mean orgasms) and sex that's only enjoyable because of love without any physical enjoyment doesn't exist and makes no sense If you're going to moralize about sex you should really have firsthand experience

@harblinger@wizard.casa Their website at least works perfectly without JS

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz @RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co We're incredibly rich and incredibly poor at the same time

@RustyCrab@clubcyberia.co Shit's dire

@coolbean@brain.worm.pink IV meth can do this, supposedly

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer mute button is the single important feature that makes fedi nice to use imo

@jonty@chaos.social Is that the GCHQ office

@Griffith@clubcyberia.co This guy would lose his mind if he knew that there was a thing called a "search engine" that would show you a list of "pages" on "web-sites" such as "erowid" or "bluelight" that tell you how to make meth

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz That's happening for me too

@bonifartius@noauthority.social @cjd@pkteerium.xyz @ReadyKilowatt@noauthority.social In theory EVs could make control a lot harder since they're much simpler and electricity is much easier to make than oil but sadly all automotive engineers these days seem to be terminally computer brained so EVs end up being even worse than new ICE cars

@snacks@netzsphaere.xyz Idk I shower every day and feel gross if I miss one

@meeper@netzsphaere.xyz Geeks4geeks was spiritually AI generated long before LLMs existed

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz @ug@brain.worm.pink It comes from both, there's no such thing as enjoyable sex without physical pleasure

@bonifartius@noauthority.social @ReadyKilowatt@noauthority.social @cjd@pkteerium.xyz Yeahhh here they recently passed a law requiring bizarre driver surveillance in the name of "safety" on all new cars, guess I just won't drive when the pre-2010 clunkers eventually die out

@sun@shitposter.world Who?

@SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo Last time I got into an argument with someone about surveillance I told him to take off his clothes (you don't have anything to hide, do you?) and I don't think that changed his mind but the look on his face was incredible

@georgia@netzsphaere.xyz Why lol

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer Is this show actually good

@genmaicha@stereophonic.space No I'm pretty clearly Anglo, I have two completely white friends who occasionally get mistaken for African and Asian though

@kaia@pleroma.soykaf.com I bought my thinkpad for $80

@prettygood@socially.drinkingatmy.computer I've had probably like 80% of my mutuals muted at one point or another tbh lol

@Rocket@shitposter.world Short the S&P500

@harblinger@wizard.casa The dumbass who made that website managed to overengineer it to the point that it pulls in a 1mb minified JS file to load its CSS and images

@ug@brain.worm.pink Software development is to actual engineering as a $5 blowjob is to having sex with someone you love, slop coders are the most developer of all developers
