the world has a lot of truly detestable humans but is anyone truly as evil as Sam Denby?

the prevalence of full screen tuis is a smell that gui frameworks are inadequate
man all this “pervert glasses” rhetoric is really casting a negative light on perversion
Wow I didn’t expect to actually be able to buy a steam frame but here I am, head of the queue, waiting for me to confirm my payment. I was hoping it would actually take a bit longer so I’d have more time to decide.
The idea of CEOs and celebs getting the iPhone duo early is pretty funny. My iPhone 16 Pro Max full on kernel panicked this morning on iOS 27, and that’s muuuch more mature hardware, and that’s me, who does use it for my job but not in the “if i don’t send this email in the next 2 minutes everyone’s finished” kind of using it for my job.
And my 16PM is pretty mature tech at this point, duo is coming in so hot they couldn’t get it on mainline iOS, it has its own little branch, and own special Xcode, which only came out like today.
If CEOs are psyched to beta test something like that then that’s kind of a big deal from a marketing perspective but I can see that backfiring pretty hard
@mike_k@mstdn.social seems to be. There is a growing amount of information I need for my job that is only available on there. For some reason people and companies just don’t feel the shame of it anymore. Guess the Overton has shifted again
@mcc@mastodon.social I am convinced that DB Cooper’s name is Data Base Cooper. It’s very clear to any student of history that they invented the database and named it after themselves
There are two thoughts in my head.
Hypothesis: as a solo/indie #gamedev creating a video game for an obsolete platform might be less risky than making a game for modern platforms.
Built in audience of completionist collectors that can form a sales floor that can’t exist on steam, built in community of people that you don’t need to assemble from scratch for word of mouth, platform limitations well understood by user base naturally limiting the scope of the game to be accomplishable by a small team, the perceived value of carts means you can charge a good price for them, and there are entire modern genres untouched. And then you can still sell a rom in an emulator for modern platforms to retain the modern sales ceiling in the million to one odds that it resonates with a larger audience.
Feeling: I’m super excited about the #neogeo AES+ and the buzz around it. So excited. Big game tapes are so cool. I can actually afford them!
just whipped up a quick #shortcut for #ios to open a tweet you need to read for some reason because people still use it for some reason on xcancel.com and I am suddenly 40% more sane

Regulation idea: licensed venues must devote twice as much space to non-gambling indoor entertainment installations (pool tables, pinball, arcade games, darts, etc) as they have to gambling machines
Thought experiment: there is a button, if you choose to press it, someone’s day goodness will be set to how good you feel pressing the button (it is an awesome button, the best button you’ve ever pressed) MINUS how good you feel about the day you’ve given someone else
The button will execute after you lift off the button giving you as much time as you need to go around the feedback loop but holding the button feels worse the longer you hold it
Do you press the button and if so, when do you release?
I wonder if there’s a critical mass of scared billionaires that would result in a private global UBI charitable foundation? The amount of political power that foundation would wield would be terrifying, truly unprecedented, and totally non-democratic.
I like daylight savings time but it’s implemented wrong. Right now it steals one sleep hour at the start and repays one sleep hour at the end. It should work for every day in the duration skipping 11 am and having two 7pms. That way the workday has one less hour for summer rather than just screwing with your sleep.
