Happy #PortfolioDay!

I’m a visual artist, an art teacher and a cultural activist. My main mediums are #oilpainting and #woodcarving, with which I create still images of unchanged and unmoving dark childhood memories.

Some lighter themes might come up in the #oilsketch & #sketchbook -category. Those are also more common posts to expect, since I paint _very slowly_ and new proper work surfaces rarely.

Jozefine Propper wearing a paper crown.
I got to try a crazy #limitedpalette with this, using only cadmium orange 🟠, ready-mixed violet🟣 and titanium white⚪️. I think it turned out funky, although I’d love to continue this later on. But once the painting has dried, I will have forgotten about these feelings!

I have moved to a new instance: @kaisla@mstdn.social

Please add it to your follows!

I’ll take better pictures of my sketches one day. Today is not that day.

More of these warmup studies!
This is still very unfinished but, well, I won’t remember to take a picture when (or if) it’s ready.

I was going to paint a small study of Ruprecht von Kaufmann’s work Ordnung (2016), which has such an inspiring color atmosphere, that I’ll want to take some inspiration of it to my upcoming stuff. But then during the light sketch before painting the values took me, and I accidentally finished this small pencil sketch instead.

I really do love the original piece, but I think I got a bit of my own fingerprint showing in here too.

Figure sketch of the evening. Reference by Proko.
Oil colors on cardboard.

(This is very bad photo quality shot in the dark, because I want to just post something every now and then to let everyone know I am alive and I do paint. And if I continue and finish the painting I’ll delete this one!)

Tampereen taiteilijaseuran kesäkursseille voi nyt ilmoittautua! Minulta tarjolla siellä on armollinen omakuvakurssi sekä myrkyttömän öljymaalaamisen perusteiden kurssi.

Ne järjestetään viikonloppuina kesäkuun ja heinäkuun taitteessa. Kaikille kursseille tarvitset mukaan omat välineet. Paikkoja on hyvin rajatusti, joten kannattaa pohtia ilmoittautumista jo hyvissä ajoin!

Kaipaatko kesääsi taidetekemistä? Haluaisitko kehittää kuvataiteen tietoja ja taitojasi, syventää omakuvamaalauksen myötä suhdetta itseesi tai oppia maalaamaan öljymaaleilla myrkyttömästi? Tervetuloa Tampereen Mältinrantaan mun vetämilleni kuvataiteen kursseille kesä- ja heinäkuussa!

Continuing with a ”bad picture of an oil sketch” -theme.

This time it’s done with a #zornpalette , meaning a four-color palette (not invented by Anders Zorn, just being made newly known by him, and something of a signature thing he did) consisting of ivory black, titanium white, cadmium red and yellow ochre.

@Linux@mastodon.nl I just 5 hours ago was asking (on my other account) for recommendations of other art instances because of the exact same reason. I don’t believe sharing art or posts only for some limited and selected righteous few is serving any purpose. Problematic behaviour needs to be addressed, yes, but this kind of control feels like they want to block anyone who is not always perfect and learned in their standards. It’s not very sustainable in building real, functional communities. And it’s mean.

There’s still a week left to see my exhibition Kaukaa kantautuva hämärä!
