I'm a volunteer DJ at WFMU radio, broadcasting from Jersey City NJ on-air and online. I'm on Wednesdays from noon-3pm Eastern time; I play lesser-known catchy records, new (mostly) and old, rock (mostly) and not.
I like and may post about new and old post-punk, proto-punk, regular punk, power pop, classic disco, cats, baseball, the Kids In The Hall, the NYT Crossword, and other stuff.

Sorry Todd-o-Phonic fans, today it’s EFD time! I’m filling in for Todd today on @WFMU@c.im with a special Singles Going Steady edition of my annual Punk / Post-Punk / Power Pop / New Wave Throwback show! This year the LPs and 12”s are staying on the shelf.
Tune in for a mix of singles from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s that I played when I was on that NYU radio station across the river. At least one “I haven’t heard this song in years” exclamation guaranteed! Listen on the radio or online starting at 3pm EDT!

Surprise! I’m on @WFMU@c.im today at noon EST with a last-minute fill-in, and because I can’t help myself I went and booked a last minute guest: Steve Wynn! Steve will be checking in from the Dream Syndicate tour van en route to tonight’s show at Le Poisson Rouge celebrating the 40th anniversary of the ‘Medicine Show’ album, which the band is playing in its entirety on this northeast mini-tour (and which has just been deluxely reissued!).

It’s also my last regular weekly show for a while (though I’ll be doing fill-ins, hopefully often).

I’m so psyched to be backing up Stephen Hunking and Chris Xefos, and to be playing alongside the great James McNew on bass! Plus some special guests and surprises!
And I haven’t even mentioned the rest of the bill: Greg Cartwright (Reigning Sound, Oblivians, etc.) solo, and of course your Sloppy Heads (with my WFMU colleague @bourgwick@heads.social) close out the night (and their Thursday night residency). And did I mention Ira and Georgia from Yo La Tengo DJing all night? No I did not.
Music begins at 6:30, Dew Claw hits at 7pm sharp. And it’s FREE! Dig out your favorite (autumn) sweater and join us!
Gadzooks! Breaking news from EFD HQ! Tomorrow, Saturday April 18th, I’ll be on @WFMU@c.im filling in for Michael Shelley, and I’m going to have a live set from British indie-pop legends Heavenly!! And when I say live I mean live-live, direct from WFMU’s live room to your ears! Tune in between 11am and 1pm EDT tomorrow and see why EFD is the Heavenly option! Then go out and see Heavenly tomorrow night at the Bowery Ballroom or catch one of their other dates in the US and Canada over the next few months!
