@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org it blows my mind that people excuse this death by saying human drivers kill people too

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org the safety claims by tesla or waymo or any of them should be ignored. It’s all marketing BS.

@ascentale@sfba.social @nev@status.nevillepark.ca @bikenite@fedigroups.social a4. I’ve done some bike brigading over the last year and have been on some protests where most everyone was on bikes but not recalling riding when most people were not. Brigading on bikes seems to work pretty well but does take a fair amount of coordination and can involve some spicy interactions (tho rare).

@oheso@ieji.de I have a Son dynamo setup too and really like it. Excellent quality. It seems to add about 5% drag.
That said it’s probably not the best bang for your buck. Good battery lights are brighter and significantly less expensive.

@parismarx@mastodon.online This is a really tough draw for Gates who really deserves more credit for his long history of bad deeds and for how effective he's been in philanthro-washing his reputation. @maaneeack @tuneintodetuned @briankrebs this jives with my experience. It’s a low bar when LI is the better option.
I also worry about all the tools involved like resume building tools and job application management tools like workday. Applicants often have little choice but to share quite personal data and I fear what is done with it

@ieeespectrum@mastodon.social really disappointing how this article and the researchers provide such a shallow consideration of the privacy concerns. The fact that this research prototype doesn’t send data to the cloud and only records on a voice command are easily changed for a production device. Not to mention do little to curb surveillance.

@boelder @well cool to see more people using Ghost or other alternatives. I tried unsuccessfully to get a software QA interest group I’m involved with to choose Ghost over Substack. Didn’t really get a good reason other than volunteers being more familiar with it. Separately I heard a journalist say that Ghost didn’t support the video content she had. I’ve not been on the creator side of these so don’t feel like I can be too judgmental tho I am disappointed.

@geertaarts@mastodon.green @rauschma@fosstodon.org for me, I don’t like the opaqueness of corporate feed/recommendation algorithms. And I really don’t like the idea of said corporations feeding me content based on their profit/political interests. I’m open to other algorithms (besides chronological) but would like better transparency and control

@Gargron@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net I've also been a long time FF user, but started also using Vivaldi a few months ago as FF started enshittifying. I do worry that Google will block uBlock from working/being installed. Not sure if Vivaldi can prevent this. Hopefully @servo@floss.social will eventually become a viable alternative.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net great to see these European efforts, tho makes me wonder about other regions as well: Africa, Asia, Americas outside US. I know Europe has a continental governance and regulatory system but seems like it be valuable for these other regions to have digital sovereignty and cross region collaboration could also be beneficial
