I don't agree with Pirating in most cases* because if you don't want to support it with money why give it your time.

Don't pirate GTA6 if you don't want to give the studios money because there are SO MANY indie games that deserve that time.

The 2 cases I am fine with Piracy though is Retro Games where they don't get money unless from selling it on an emulator and if you are poor. If you can't afford my art then pirate it and if you like it pay later.

@klymilark@wall.fallcounty.omg.lol @anolandria@mastodon.social Yeah even though I have used "If you don't respect me I won't respect you" as a defense mechanism before the more I think about it the more dehumanizing it is I think. Everyone has their reasons for why they act the way they do, so a little sympathy in some cases can lead to mutual respect. In some cases though it's clear that people are just disrespectful. I am not saying to show Trump, Musk, Zuckerburg or any corporation sympathy, but normal people it might be good.

I just looked into Elementary OS and it looks intriguing. Don't know if I would use it because it looks like more of a MAC like interface, but everything being pay what you want similar to Itch.io sounds very intriguing.

In a world where so many things are getting enshittified Elementary OS being PWYW AND having NO AI is a huge plus.

@skeletor@mas.to Sometimes it is better to be the bigger problem. If you "Be the bigger person" by keeping quiet then problems will never change and it may drice you crazy. If you become a problem though then maybe people will try to work on a solution with you.

If someone gets mad enough and chooses violence towards the powerful taking advantage of us though I am not going to disagree. It goes my many names "Play Stupid Games Win Stupid Prizes" and FAFO is a couple. Abuse the people and someone will get mad eventually. If you don't care about people I don't pity you if someone reacts with violence.

@kwramm Well said. AAA doesn't look at how creative a game is and I would argue a lot of games don't really care about how much they respect the source material. Indie can do this A LOT better than AAA will with some genres and bring back smaller games that AAA won't do because massive open world and action games are critical successes.

It seems interesting, so I added it to my wishlist, but who knows when I will actually get it because I have quite the backlog and wishlist already lol. It's more like a siren saying "With my 'help' you can make art", but it isn't you really making it if that makes sense. It's like asking for food and you get vaguely edible paste. FOSS like Blender and Krita are legit commodifying art. Either way though F AI and F corporations for trying to dehumanize people for profit to try to satisfy their greed.

Not sure if I will get the bundle, but over 100 games for 99% if you bought them individually is just the kind of crazy bundle I try to tell people about on Itch.io

You don't find bundles like THAT on Steam and for a charity either.

@gabe_sky@infosec.exchange So I did some testing and it's crazy how much actually works when messing with colors. Not only does changing the background color work, but changing the foreground color works too. To fully try things out I also tried inverting the colors and even trying light blue foreground next darkest blue background and it worked. Overall surprised by what actually works and pleased by how much the site has that most sites don't in terms of usability.

@gabe_sky@infosec.exchange Cool website. It's always hard to find good QR Code generators, so finding one this good that is dedicated to being completely free and no shady business is great. I will try to shout this out any time someone needs a QR Code. I especially love the fact you can change the colors on it if you want to try different colors or make it transparent. I knew you could change the background color and it work, but I will have to test how much you can change the Foreground color and it work.

@joachim@boitam.eu At least to me I think Child Labor is the best example. Because "AI" is here doesn't distinguish the difference between what was "AI" 10 years ago to now. People don't have nearly as many problems with auto-correct or GPS even though those are "AI" GenAI is where the problem stems. So like with Child Labor it would like if someone had a problem with Child Labor and the response was "Labor is here to stay" okay, but the problem is with ONE SUBSET of Labor not Labor in general IMO.

I might be able to convince my bosses at work to debloat windows with the possibility of it making stuff run faster. As much as I would rather people move to Linux I can understand why some don't. Moving to Linux seems scary especially for the non-tech savvy.

@TechConnectify Great video. I have been trying to do some research on good cars to get while wanting to transition away from gas. I don't know if there are good cheap EVs, so it's good to know more on how Hybrid Cars work. I still don't know what company is best to buy from if I want to avoid companies adding subscriptions to things, but I do still appreciate the knowledge on hybrids and will consider getting one if I can't find a good EV especially since I can't currently set up home charging
