mastodon 4.7.3

I am a dutch artist, living in Norway. My greatest fascination and inspiration is the natural world and it's history, and how to live with it. Going so far as to get a bachelor's degree in Nature, the environment and outdoorlife studies at the University of Sørøst-Norge. Otherwise, I'm rediscovering myself everyday.

The #gamedev of #Snailriders has gone a bit at a snails pace lately. Mainly because after having done game testing, the core gameplay isn't fun enough. So I have to return to the drawing board, and have been having little time to do so. However, a big part of the joy of this project is the worldbuilding and making illustrations. Which is why I always have my little #sketchbook on me. Here's a #pencilsketch of 'Traversing the deepwoods'. #sketchbookart #fantasyart #forest #fantasy

Hey everyone,
Some art display. This is an ongoing commission for the Oslo municipality: botanical #watercolor illustrations for information signs for pear, plumb, cherry, seabukthorn, a flower bed (echinacea, hyssop and greater burnet), highbush blueberry, bramble, whitecurrent, blackcurrent, aronia and chaenomeles japonica.

I've been working on some other things but mainly I've been pushing on to finish the renovation of the house.

@aCrownOfMoths@mastodon.gamedev.place Thanks for the tip! That sounds like a very good way of digitizing the image. I'll see if I can test out that workflow with some better equipment.

@wronglang@bayes.club Unfortunately, I don't have a better camera than my phone at the moment. But I'm often struggling with the color balance or that the photos are a bit over exposed almost. There are often areas in my paintings that weirdly stick out saturation-/brightness-wise, that are much more subtle and smooth in real life.

I'm struggling quite a bit with making good looking photographs of my traditional paintings. If any of you have a few tips, I'd be very glad.

@MichaelWhelan@mastodon.art 2/2 That said, humans have a dark side and sometimes it's beneficial to explore it in a safe way through fiction to give it a place. I once did a commission for a body horror film where I made the concept sketch for the monster. I was disgusted afterwards that I could make something like that. So I deleted my copy and decided to never do it again. I crossed that delicate border where the horror was just meant to shock, and I wasn't proud of it.

Sensitive: eye contact

A portrait drawing as an exercise. Depicted is Wim Hof also known as 'The Iceman'. He's been quite an inspiration to me; he's a complicated and fascinating figure who continuously has pushed himself to the extreme to show what a human being is capable of. His techniques and knowledge have been very beneficial to a lot people including myself.

@wronglang@bayes.club Thanks for the tip! I've been experimenting a lot with the 'pro' mode, where you can control the parameters a bit better. But I should really borrow and test a proper camera.
