Whipping his head around he sees a second raccoon crouched in the bush, holding a gun.

“You shot my eye out!” Jed hollers. “And I’d do it again” the raccoon with the firearm yells. “You tried to kill my brother!” Jed, who never took no guff off a critter, turned and fired, and his assailant slumped to the ground.
