@jblue@mastodon.world @cassolotl@toot.wales it's wildly expensive and extremely inefficient compared to standard systems, the largest they made so far is 14"x20" and require special wired frames, so they don't really replace big glass panels (at least as they currently have them), they did a few test installations which work but are kinda underwhelming, 2% efficiency that really only produces in full early morning and late afternoon isn't much, they were able to light a single room's LED lighting using this array

@jblue@mastodon.world The wealthiest 1% went to .01%, through already deeply established root infrastructure, and subjugated subservience. #sheeple

@jblue@mastodon.world @cassolotl@toot.wales my guess (I'm not an expert) is something to do with the fact it's only picking up certain wavelengths, and so losing out on probably a lot of potential energy, making it fairly inefficient. If I recall correctly, the amount of light that gets through our atmosphere and that's not in the visible spectrum is pretty small, no? Or maybe it's something else, like the logistics of getting public good tech to get off the ground if there isn't any significant money to be made off of adoption.
