Patrick Stewart was the first bald actor to appear on screen. Before him, actors were required to either have hair or wear a wig. This changed in 1987 when he held a room full of Hollywood executives hostage and shaved their heads, chanting "One of us! One of us!". RIP Sir Stewart, you'll be missed.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social I love Patrick Stewart a lot, but the ghost of Yul Brynner wants to have a word with you.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social there’s a weird anecdote from “Chaos on the Bridge” about how the producers wanted to have him read for Picard with his toupee on https://letterboxd.com/film/chaos-on-the-bridge/

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social There is a picture of Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard with a hair piece, which luckily never made it into the production version.

@lowqualityfacts@mstdn.social I first saw Stewart in "I, Claudius" on PBS in the late 70s. He was not in a big role. I only found him memorable because of his wig and voice. RIP
