And were in favor of stopping participation in the war. https://www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2026/9/20/two-german-states-go-to-the-polls-after-far-right-gains A lot of left wing parties (often called far left even though they have no plan to nationalize anything) in Europe just don’t want to cut down on social spending to finance the war in Ukraine a few more years, nor eventually have to send their kids to fight there. You know soft fascism is winning when all pacifists are called collaborators and accused of being allied to the foreign menace. Not participating in the war makes you an enemy. When GW Bush said “you are either with us or against us” Europeans thought it was wrong and now they are on the same path. All right wing and supposed centrists (like Macron, who worked in private banking…) politicians in Europe keep focusing exclusively on the Russian threat because they have no program to fight back against the destruction that capitalism is doing in their own country. Nothing like a good war to keep the minds occupied. So it is very important for them to get everyone assured that Putin is going for Paris and Berlin next (even though they fought 4 years and haven’t fully taken control of the Russian-speaking east of Ukraine).
