So, the NetBSD 11 boot DVD on my Ultra 45 defaults to serial console, which is annoying. Is there a way to force the boot and installer to use the local console instead?

I don't want to bring the mood down even further, but Patrick Stewart did ruin his first two marriages by cheating on his wives with much younger women. His third marriage was to a woman 38 years younger than he was. We've called people creeps for less. Just think of all the DiCaprio memes. Feel free to unfollow me if this bothers you.

RE: https://exquisite.social/@exquisite/117526920936481826 I am on an instance that runs Mastodon-glitch on OpenBSD, because fuck you, that's why. :openbsd:

How would you do a similar test on a modern Fedora install? I'm curious. https://mstdn.social/@jschauma/117527136683921839

Is this amdgpu guide still accurate for NetBSD 11? It seems... Involved. Why does it use pkgsrc instead of binary packges, for instance? https://codeberg.org/blackmirroxx/netbsd_amdgpu

I really should get into video for @osnews@mstdn.social at some point huh. I'm just so worried about audio and video quality. I know I can tell a good story, and I've got tons of ideas, but I'm so spoiled by all these excellent YouTubers that I already feel incompetent before I even start.

So the concept of the CVE is undergoing inflation because the slop companies have a vested interest in turning every minor bug into a dangerous security issue? To make it seem as if "AI" code scanning tools are better at finding security issues than they really are? Am I off the mark here?

I'm this close to buying a Japanese Panasonic Let's Note laptop just because they have adorable round trackpads, every legacy port, and a disc drive in the weirdest of places. I will not ever use it.

So I think getting an Athlon XP 1600+(-ish) processor, compatible motherboard, and GeForce 2 videocard is probably easier than buying a complete system.

American tech media are already saying every single foldable up until this point was just made to counter Apple's eventual entry into the market. It's absolutely bizarre. These people are insane.

"I read slop output every day but it doesn't affect my writing" is one hell of a monolingual non-traveller thing to say. Bitch I spent three weeks in Texas when I was 17 and my English is still recovering from it.

There's a real pent-up demand for a Linux distribution as nicely made as Fedora or Elementary, but focused on providing a more classic, retro experience but *with* all the modern amenities. I have high hopes for things like cow, which brings a classic fvwm experience to Wayland: https://codeberg.org/thomasadam/cow Building something from components myself costs time I'd rather spend with my kids, or, I don't know, shoving shards of glass underneath my fingernails.

    >Editor’s note: This is an English translation of an interview originally published on FabScene, a Japanese web media outlet covering hardware, digital fabrication, and maker culture. Context has been added for readers unfamiliar with Japan’s electronics scene. A translation is a work of art. If you do actually get a real translator - and it seems they actually did here - name them. Credit them. I know I'm fighting a battle long lost, but as someone with two university degrees in transl...
