@desea@snug.moe I'm guessing you mean the anime and not the character, who isn't the hero of the story

  • @desea@snug.moe Its an interesting thing maybe but I never stomached reading more than half a book. Carlo Zen is said to write quite nice prose (for LN standards anyway) But the books are quite long-winded in their explanations... The anime was fine I guess. For japanese media it is normally safe to assume its more anti-war than not. So I guess showing the gruesomeness and loopholes in war-laws can do that. I just really hate the japanese fetish for german-ish inspired millitaries (though to be fair this is located in germany Rhine-Front and stuff) I never did read far enough to give you a conclusive answer though. Tanya though is just opportunistic maybe?

@desea@snug.moe As someone who has read the light novels and seen the show its very anti-war. The main theme has always been emotion vs logic. passion vs pragmatism. The antagonists are almost always passionate people driven by rage or lust or nationalism or faith. While I very much agree the book can be dry bloated reading, the show understood the assignment and while I disagree on some changes there are others I really like.
