  The Ranger chronicles continue. Was getting a hot misfire. I figure it's electrical, but I can NOT reach where the ground strap bolts to the back of the head (emissions pipes connected to the exhaust manifold block my meat mitts from getting back there). So off to the shop it goes. Figure cheap/easy fix for them.   In bike news, I picked up a new helmet (I've been riding without), seat post, and a Brooks saddle today. Let's see if the Brooks warrants the hype. It certainly -looks- pretty. Does anyone have any recommendations for a pannier bag (or basket) that would be decent for carrying vinyl records? Mine is just a hair too narrow.

  So of course the Ranger is at the shop when the registration comes due and it needs a smog this year. (Luckily California doesn't penalize not having the smog, only if you're late with the money, so I was able to pay and just have a incomplete reg) I really, really hope that the bottom end is good. That truck isn't worth having the entire engine rebuilt, but the way the market is, I don't know that I'm gonna get a better rig for the cost of a rebuild.

  I've been looking at ebikes for a local commuter and recently become enamored with the Priority E-Sauce. It ticks a lot of my boxes, looks good, and not egregiously expensive. I'm concerned with the idea of a single speed, and one that can't be changed later (hub drive so no option of going IGH, belt drive so no option of adding a cassette) I'm in the same gear 90% of the time on my accoustic, so maybe the e-ness covers the gaps. Sucks that there's none...

  It's funny to me that when an AI does something, no one is able to be held responsible. But if you have a self-driving car with a human occupant, that occupant is a "driver" and is legally liable for the actions of the vehicle. So which is it? Is the owner of the AI liable for the destruction wrought by their creations or can I get shitfaced in the back of a self-driving Corolla?

  I did a little digging, and the Leaf and i3 both EVs with interiors that are -not- dominated by big dumb screens. Are there any others? Teslas infamously have their big dumb screens, Rivians have the big dumb screen, the Toyota bz I had for a weekend was dominated by a big dumb screen...
