A Reddit comment said the grass in my drag racer was too bright. I went looking for the grass and found a second sun. Then the night. Then a new colour space. Then headlights for every car, with the lamp type and luminous intensity of its real counterpart, wherever I could find them. Well, that escalated quickly. The update is in the free demo, and day is still one click away: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5077320/ #IndieDev #GameDev #DragRacing #IndieGame #SteamNextFest

A week ago the physics in my drag racer wore a tuxedo and the graphics showed up in pajamas. Then I turned the lights off so nobody would notice. Now the graphics got dressed: every car wears the real factory colours of its counterpart, under the names its maker gave them, and 289 custom colours for body, wheels and calipers sit on top. The opponents mostly went for custom paint. Of course they did. Free demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5154670/ #IndieDev #GameDev #DragRacing #IndieGa...

Kostenlose Demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5154670/ #IndieDev #GameDev #DragRacing #IndieGam...

The physics in my drag racer has worn a tuxedo since day one. The graphics showed up in pajamas, turned the lights off, then put on factory paint. Turns out paint doesn't help much when what's underneath is a cardboard box with wheels. So the cardboard boxes are gone: new models for all three demo cars, real width, real wheel sizes, and tail lamps that only glow where they're red. My drag racer is a tapping game: two keys in turn are your throttle. I always said it's a workout and I'm not responsible for your keyboard. Some people would rather keep their keyboard. Fair. So the demo now has a Casual mode: on keyboard the foot floors it and you do launch and shifts, on a controller the right trigger is your gas pedal. Plus a second track. Hi Mastodon! I'm Patrick, and I'm making TapRacer on my own: a side-on drag racer where your throttle is two keys, tapped in strict alternation. Underneath sits a longitudinal physics model: torque curves, gear ratios, clutch slip, tyre temperature, weight transfer. Launch too low and the engine bogs, too high and the tyres let go. The free demo is on Steam and in Next Fest (Oct 19-26): https://store.steampowered.com/app/5077320/ #Introduction #IndieDev #GameDev #DragRacing #SteamNext...
