<p>Making the world better, one note at a time. A classical composer with a passion for medieval and Renaissance music. Two main themes permeate many of my works – music composed in an attempt to translate something about the nature of the physical world and music composed to inspire and promote world peace. I always love stumbling upon great music by composers I never knew of before. Sharing an album of sonatas for violin and basso continuo by J.P. von Westhoff. Music reminiscent of von Biber (whose music I adore). https://music.amazon.com/albums/B09725BT7K?ref=dm_sh_CI2hutkblD1CsFMZSycFZEMCu

For no particular reason, after a hiatus of 25 years, I embarked on a piece for piano trio. Just reached the final bar of CONVERSATIONS for violin, cello and piano. 9 minutes. Now, it has to sit and percolate a bit before I upload the score and parts to my website. Perhaps there’s another trio lurking inside before I call this done. We’ll see…

Last week was hectic, most of the nights from 2 am on, spent remotely listening to a recording session by the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra of two of my symphonies. So, I missed classical radio host Marvin Rosen&amp;#39;s program on Wednesday, with music dedicated to peace. Thrilled to learn he included my PAVANNE TO A WORLD WITHOUT WAR for string orchestra on the program. The recording is from my album AND I PAINT STARS WITH WINGS with Camerata Philadelphia. https://www.classicaldiscoveries...

It has been slow going, but, at last, I finished my series of compositions written in support of Israel during these challenging times. Composed for two mezzo sopranos and two violas, I set three poems, JERUSALEM, EARTHLY AND DIVINE, by Israeli poet Lea Goldberg, followed by three poems by various Israeli poets from the book SHIVA: POEMS OF OCTOBER 7 (Not Yet Cleared for Publication, Be’eri, Tikkun). The final poem ends on a note of hope: the gardeners of peace.

Started in today setting several poems from Nelly Sachs’ “Flight and Metamorphosis” to music. Not entirely practical, but it seemed soprano and string quartet was right for these poems. I debated, momentarily between setting the original German or the English translation - but went with the former. The poem has stanzas framed around the statement “how light the earth will be…when…” Harmonics.

Lovely news! Pianist Naoko Christ-Kato will perform the world premiere of a new suite, *My Garden*, on November 19th at the &amp;quot;Überlinger Musiktage&amp;quot; festival on Lake Constance. Before writing the suite, I spent time in my garden listening. It’s full of flowers and birdsong when in season.

My project setting poems by Nelly Sachs for mezzo soprano and string quartet is rolling along. Two poems done. An as yet undecided number of more poems to go.
