If Jim Jordan becomes Speaker ... I can't even. Somebody tell me he can't possibly be worse than the last guy.

A super "Science Behind the Fiction" event at #PortobelloBookFestival with #DougJohnstone (THE SPACE BETWEEN US) and myself talking about FRIEND ME. We chatted about writing sci-fi proudly, how other writing like journalism affects our fiction, and the joys & terrors of Enceladus and AI. Thrilled to hear the sequel to Doug's book is out next march. Sci-fi forever! #kidlit #scifi #sff #SheilaMAverbuch #MiddleGradeBooks #edinburgh #writingcommunity @bookstodon...

Just putting a CW in case you don't want to be involuntarily exposed to my musings. I worked for a long time as an actor and the hardest thing was being deep into a long run and trying to bring the energy every night. It demanded finding something new and leaning into that with my whole self. That's what revising this manuscript feels like - another deep rewrite. But I believe in this story. If I could do long runs at 21, I can do this at 53. #writingcommunity
