I must be a real idiot because I can't even figure out how to remove applications from auto-starting on MacOS - supposedly the best UX/UI out of the OS families... Every single simple thing I need to do I need to search the internet for. Bravo π for the dead simple UX!

Engineers with access to AI art is an unpleasant pair. Slides are now often obfuscated with noisy art.

interesting real data on AI: We saw a company-level 3x lines of code committed since the first set of agentic coding tools were introduced. Some observations: - 3x lines is not 3x productivity/features shipped/bugs fixed/etc. It could be higher or lower in the real world since: - LLMs tends to have a higher LoC/value delivered - this only captures coding, not acceleration in other aspects of engineering (like debugging, etc.) - nowhere close to the vibe-numbers of 10x productivity #ai

Project Hail Mary: a 12/10 book turned into a 7/10 movie. Quiet disappointing, wish they didnt dumb it down so much and lose so much of the spirit of the book. #movies #books #scifi

@dhh on software engineering as a craft: "Aesthetics is truth. When something is beautiful, it's likely correct. This is true in mathematics, this is true in physics" Great watch: https://youtu.be/JiWgKRgdgpI

Imagine a world where every small hobbyist or volunteer dev has to register with a global corporation just to share their work. That's the world Google is building for Android in 2026. https://keepandroidopen.org @keepandroidopen

today in LLM replacing engineers: Ran a code review agent with GPT 5.5 across all my 12 requested code reviews, the only one that the AI had no comment on (i.e. code should be merged as-is) is the one that had to be abandoned because we were working on the wrong thing. Context still matters. AIs need to have more advanced context and need capabilities to reason about the motivations of changes. Building the right thing is just as important as building right.

I love how "bring back manufacturing to US" just became building up robotics infrastructure instead of the "implied" bringing back jobs for people

maybe, just maybe, @barackobama shouldn't have named a healthcare plan Obamacare in a partisan country. everyone needs to feed their own ego, that's bipartisan.

Thanks to LLMs, engineers (we already struggled to write) has completely lost the context around what a good document is supposed to look and read like. I used to love advocating writing and reading of docs, now idk
