@OsseinArcanum @antifaintl legally I think it might be a case of "shooting is lethal force, if you don't use it in a intentionally lethal way, you obviously didn't need to use lethal force". It's why you don't shoot to wound.

@ShredderFeeder @Teri_Kanefield@law-and-politics.online nah, you use a shredded they use on hard drives. Car shredders leave too large of chunks

@Kozmyk @Teri_Kanefield@law-and-politics.online no such thing. The best you can do is have automated wipes and perhaps reach plausible deniability that you intentionally wiped evidence.

@cstross b and c have fission, b has various energy storage options like pumped hydro.

@emilygorcenski 10.2 seems like normal business operations stuff. 10.4 is more problematic, though it mostly seems like boilerplate ass covering "you can't sue us for providing the services we provide"
-
View post
@emilygorcenski it explicitly disclaims user content, so it would at least be a hell of a fight of they tried to say it covered what most people are worried about.

@gsuberland @cstross it's certainly not perfect, but its generally better than running natural gas or coal to meet demands above what renewables and nuclear can provide. (And provides a sink for excess renewable power)

@whvholst @cstross @gsuberland has to be in a place where you can place an receiving basin far enough underground. Pumped hydro is NEVER going to work in most of Florida for example

@russss @gsuberland @attie @cstross @lispi314 there was a whole thing on flywheel storage for a while. I never worked out why they never went BIG and used hydrodynamic or just air bearings on the outside for support

@mattblaze has anyone made a quick and dirty spectrum analyzer like tool out of a bunch of rtl sticks?

@cstross I still get ese pods and use my handpresso while traveling, that outin does look interesting. The 20bar pump in the outin advertising is a bit worrying because, well, that would make for cruddy coffee if accurately describing the cycle. (Guessing it's a fixed flow rate pump that could generate up to 20bar) Does it do a two stage pumping? Pump a bit to preinfuse and then extract?

@jonhendry @nanographs image position is the beam position (basically bouncing off a spherical mirror), and brightness is how many electrons (or photons) eventually make it to the detector.
