Something I'm wondering about: why haven't the model collapse predictions come to pass, even as models are increasingly, explicitly getting trained on synthetic data? Or has "collapse" been manifesting in less obvious ways?

So I just completed by rewatch of The Prisoner, a show I started in middle school cause our eccentric English teacher would play an episode a month as a treat, but missed the day they played the last episode. And I'm ready to issue a Take. I love this show, it's super fun and the aesthetic and vibe are impeccable but... it's kind of dumb?

Is it just me or is “jagged intelligence" just a way for AI pushers to spin “our whole premise was wrong”?

"You should go back to X because Apple's CEO is posting marketing videos there" may be the funniest thing John Gruber has ever written.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@misc/112437447034623948 Looks like it's back, sadly it's a subscription and signs point heavily to vibe coding but might still give it a shot. https://daymapapp.com

It passed unanimously! Of course, some people on X are mad. If you haven’t written already, or even have, wouldn’t hurt to thank the City Council (and also mention they should start a presence here too) CityCouncil@CambridgeMA.GOV https://mastodon.social/@misc/116159903832490892

Live in #CambridgeMA? Think the city should stop posting on X? The City Council is considering a motion today for just that! Write them & let them know you support it - policy order # 3. CityCouncil@CambridgeMA.GOV And while you're at it, mention you'd like to see them here too! #cambma
