When I hear how people on bikes never follow the rules, should have a license, be registered, etc., so we can ticket them, this is what I see when I’m on the road. #CarBrain #entitleddriver #carculture

    First time seeing a 3ft sign in #BeverlyHills somewhat blocked by a tree #bicycle #bikeinfrastructure #nobikelanes

    For most people who only drive, they can’t see what’s wrong with this, or probably don’t care #entitleddriver #driving #carculture #cars #carculturesucks #cycling #activetransportation

@spangborn I’ll try that next time I’m out. It won’t take much to find speeding pass the stop line

@DuncanWatson I’m not car free, but I bike commute whenever possible, believe we should build better public transit , better bike infrastructure and more walkable neighborhoods

Depending on how safe the intersection is, if I’m going straight, I stop in the travel lane so I don’t block drivers making a right. But some drivers don’t get it & try to pass on my right. They just end up blocking drivers & making it unsafe for me #biking #safestreetsforall #impatientdriver #safestreets

@forpeterssake I feel like the person in the white Civic messed up the other drivers by first wanting to pass me, and then only to stop in the middle of the intersection

@dmoser not sure if you’ve seen the entire video but goofy goes from driver to pedestrian then back to driver again. Very insightful from 70 years ago

First time out of the country since pre-pandemic. Felt great! I generally travel by bike and public transit. Here's my first post from London. I'm working on writing up Paris and The Netherlands next. The cycling in The Netherlands really is on a whole other level https://www.eatbikeexplore.com/post/lost-in-london-solo-traveling-around-town

Here's my second post on my time in Paris by walking, biking and taking public transit. https://www.eatbikeexplore.com/post/a-few-days-in-paris-by-walking-biking-and-metro

I finally bicycled in Amsterdam! And it was awesome! But, my guess is the average American visiting Amsterdam probably would not ride. And I get it. Despite how safe it is to ride, it can be intimidating for non-riders visiting. I wrote a blog on visiting Amsterdam and riding a bike if you haven't ridden since childhood. #bikinginamsterdam #amsterdambikeride #eatbikeexplore #bicyclingAmsterdam https://www.eatbikeexplore.com/post/visiting-amsterdam-and-riding-a-bike-when-you-havent-rid...

@rexi @davidzipper I’ve definitely felt drivers are more aggressive post pandemic. It’s like people got used to driving recklessly without traffic in 2020 but as traffic picked up 2021 and on, they haven’t readjusted to be safer

I'm reliving my trip to The Netherlands from this summer and seeing photos from my bike ride from Utrecht to Amersfoort. Almost the entire route was on a separated bike path. Safe, fun and enjoyable. Hard not to feel frustrated coming back to the US, even riding in Portland, OR. #bicycle #safestreets #bikeride #NLbikeride #Utrecht #Portland https://www.eatbikeexplore.com/post/bike-ride-from-utrecht-to-amersfoort-in-the-netherlands

@notjustbikes also what if the software in one of the AV freezes? Then there’s a chance of a crash which creates even more traffic.

@ericdoherty.bsky.social when I was in Copenhagen and The Netherlands, I saw quite a number of people in electric wheel chairs using the bike lanes. I thought that’s so much better than needing to either buy an expensive modified car to meet your needs or waiting for some special bus capable of handling wheelchairs to pick you up.

@gwagner are cameras on school buses able to ticket drivers? If not, how is it a money grab? Or are they using these videos as data so that eventually they can ticket them?

Wrote a blog on my experience cycling across the Shimanami Kaido. Felt good remembering about my time there instead of reading about ICE raids, climate change and of course Donnie https://www.eatbikeexplore.com/post/bicycling-the-shimanami-kaido
