  Hi fellow nerds. If any of you have experience using Uppy for uploads, I'd appreciate your thoughts on it. Our use case is for scientific media (images, videos, etc.) that can be quite large - uploaded to S3 buckets, or maybe dropbox, or both. This seems to fit the bill.   If you manage any #WordPress sites on #BlueHost be sure to check your PHP version. Even if you have automatic WordPress and Plugin updates configured, the PHP version update is separate and NOT automatically changed. Confirmed, after switching to PHP 8.5, it IS the correct 8.5.12 patched version.

  Working on a mastodon python script using mastodon.py today. It's going to emulate what I think channel.org was doing - for each followed account, check every 10 minutes or so and boost any public posts. Also excluding replies and unlisted posts. I'll also re-evaluate the account's discovery settings and look for common nobot, etc. tags in pinned posts and profile bios before boosting (at least once per run anyway). #MastoDev

  So, I maintain the @fedidevs@channel.org account, and was just informed the channels instance is closing down in October. Not sure what I’m going to do, maybe a @surf@flipboard.social feed. But I don’t think I can migrate followers to Surf. It was basically a repeater - channels would boost all posts from accounts I followed. I guess another option is a custom @botkit@hackers.pub bot?   In the final episode of Hard Fork, it was announced that the forkiverse instance will be shutdown at some point in the future. There will be plenty of time given before that happens, but sad to hear it. Also hinted at some future discussions about the end of the “experiment” and a possible migration path.   I already had a list of Fediverse Apps as "Featured Profiles" on my own Profile. This still exists. You can add ANY account you want to the Featured Profiles list. But with collections, you have the consent step - if an account is on a platform or server that doesn't have collections enabled, or the user has disabled them, you can't add it. Featured Profiles is probably going to be retired soon. It's contradictory right now with the new consent rules, don't you think?...
