If you’re choosing to remain ignorant to the definition of the word “immigrant”, I can’t help you. Might be worth checking a dictionary.

TIL the fediverse basically DDOS's sites when you share a link. I shared a link from NPR Tiny Desk but there was no image preview or video embed. After investigating this I learned that when you do that, each instance picks up the link and individually retrieves the link preview nearly simultaneously. For gargantuan sites like YT or Reddit, this is a trivial amount of traffic and not a problem, but for smaller sites like NPR this results in a sort of botnet DDOS attack on the site’s servers...

Ah, I see. The point is no one can ask for your passkey, right?

Someone help me understand "SteamOS"? Specifically, SteamOS for the Steam Frame. I have so many questions. The Frame runs “SteamOS”. Only SteamOS is based on Arch/x86, and the Frame runs ARM/Qualcomm, so surely this is a sort of “SteamOS for ARM”? I understand FEX (ish), are they just running the entire OS through FEX? Arch doesn’t seem to have an ARM version I can find so did Valve do the work of porting Arch to ARM? And if so, where is the source code?

And to make the owners pay for…electricity. Tesla is an electric utility, they could probably make more money providing it to themselves than passing the costs off to their contractors.

His 180 is a simple case of tribalism. The good of the party outranks the good of the cause. Hell most Republicans talked shit about Trump before he was elected, including his own VP. Same reason some Republican group took down a bunch of rebukes of Ken Paxton immediately after he beat Cornyn.

And even sometimes you don't pay and still aren't the product. See most FOSS stuff. The statement is just false.

Privacy policies honestly are rarely worth reading. They are intentionally grossly encompassing, vague and unintelligible. They'll put shit in there that they have no intention of doing but might in the future, or might accidentally happen, because they know no one reads or understands them or cares. They include vague language like "our partners", which can be vastly different degrees of invasive and dangerous but you'll never know because they don't list them and they...

The only reason an asshole would gravitate to a particular instance would have to have something to do with that instance.

Its literally the topic of the entire article, from beginning to end. You can't possibly have read it and still not understand this.

I don't understand what they're saying. Mythos can't find vulnerabilities that humans can't, but it also supposedly found 271 vulns so...the humans were just ignoring them?

The funny thing is, the government can't **demand** this information without a warrant. But they can certainly just pay for it with your money. And very few people will care. "I have nothing to hide" and all of that.

Okay now get rid of the in-video ads and AI slop and I might consider actually using a first-party interface again.

Depends what you mean by "safe enough". Every country on the planet can subpoena your VPN for traffic data. That's why that data needs to be encrypted, regardless of what company.
