It's always interesting to see how other industries approach the transformations that we are all facing. If you are curious about the lawyers' perspective, take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uWnr42zGnE

If you care about AI in Math or are just here for the drama, take a look ๐Ÿ™‚ Recently, I wrote an opinion piece for Proofs and Prompts on the issue, aiming to place the conversation in a broader economic context and suggest a constructive path forward. https://proofsandprompts.com/2026/08/20/response-to-the-ai-dissenter-viewpoint/

It's nice when companies do the right thing. It took Modular a while, but better late than never. https://www.modular.com/blog/mojo-open-source

Mathematicians have been writing so many open letters lately; perhaps statisticians should write one too. But not about AI. Instead, we could write one to harmonize statistical theory and practice and to promote collaboration between academia and industry. If you work in Statistics or Data Science, in academia or industry (especially in academia), please let me know what you think. Here is a general outline of my thoughts: https://x.com/anatolvitold/status/2099458499004481985

I hope I see it (the United States of Europe) in my lifetime. It is wild that EU member states still do not have mutual recognition of birth certificates. Same-sex couples with children effectively cannot move across borders. It would be nice to harmonize family law and create a single capital market. https://x.com/GabrielAttal/status/2100630246928097345

It was nice chatting with Charlotte Mauger (@charlottemgr) about AI in math. As always, I can't emphasize this enough: "It would be good if we stopped thinking about what OpenAI is going to do, and instead asked ourselves how to develop open-source alternatives." The question is not why they don't do something beneficial with the technology. It's why you don't. Take a look at her article (in French): https://www.mediapart.fr/journal/culture-e...

From the applied perspective, it's very exciting to see theory building taking center stage. Intuitive, well-motivated expositions are also always welcome, especially by people outside of the authors' research group. Whatever the cause (AI or something else), these are great developments! https://proofsandprompts.com/2026/09/25/dear-conferences-journals-and-hiring-committees-dont-wait-for-everyone-else/
