I also like to use an alias to update like the previous comment described. I did it on Mint, and I still do it now on Debian even though it has a graphical update manager too. I like it better this way, probably for readability when there are multiple updates, and definitely for the verbose progress indications. I do already use the terminal all the time too. My alias does something like apt update, apt upgrade, flatpak update, and then a commented-out firmware manager update.

At past employers it has seemed to me that most of what the internal recruiters do is look back and forth between resumes and job descriptions and throw away the resumes that don’t have enough bullet points matching.

    > Are they really such amazing actors Unfortunately I don't think they need to be good actors in the first place. One of the lessons of the last decade of the shit show that we call human society has been that awful and/or stupid people rise to positions of power and influence every day by acting confident and promising things they can't deliver. The modern confidence man isn't the thief of the street but the legitimate executive.

This image hits especially hard for me just because of the specific project. I've been medicated for a couple years now and thanks to the work I've gotten done in my hobbies I have built up a huge collection of power tools and I have bought SO much lumber.

This is actually a great representation of the difference in culture I've seen between the US and visiting a couple places in Europe and particularly Sweden. I don't know if actual public fruit tree orchards are a thing anywhere, but the general feel of "holy crap they can have nice things in shared spaces here" was everywhere.

You're using a non-profit knowledge sharing organization as an example in a discussion about Reddit, which is quite the opposite.

This reminds me of the similar map of names for soft drinks. You have your soda vs coke, but I live in one of the "pop" regions which is admittedly a larger area than these little "bubbler" enclaves. I mostly switched over to "soda" once I went to college though. A nationwide and international assortment of group members will encourage that.
