Vivaldi continues to grow steadily, as more people get to know us and the values we stand for. Our users are fed up with AI being shoved down their throat on every product, and they're fed up with the way the big corporations have been (mis)treating us all for decades. We love building an alternative for all of you, because we truly believe you deserve better. But we wouldn't be here without your support, so if you're using Vivaldi: thank you! We're now officially 4.5 million...

We've been working on a fun little project for a while and we'd love to welcome you to take the first look at it: Everyone, this is our newest community service: Vivaldi Radio. Vivaldi Radio, this is the fediverse!! :tony_wee: Vivaldi Radio is a free radio streaming service where you can discover radio stations from all over the world without being tracked, just like how radio used to be. No popups, no ads, suggestions. Just you and the music. This is a work in progress, we're st...

Some of you have been asking whether or not Vivaldi is affected by Chrome’s #AI API, which some websites are using for tracking purposes. The answer is straight-forward: no. ✌️ As part of our philosophy to reject built-in AI features, we've been disabling all the Gemini-related code bundled in Chromium for a long while — which effectively prevents websites from using this API in Vivaldi.

Three years ago, we reached another milestone by launching our browser for iOS, but getting there was no bed of roses. Did you know that, as of today, browser vendors are still forced to use the WebKit engine if they want to distribute their product on Apple devices? Sure, regulatory efforts have brought changes to the European and Japanese markets, but the rest of the world is still very much in shackles. Things aren't easy when you're competing against Big Tech, but we promise to k...

The anti-Big-Tech movement isn't a trend, it's a correction. Our societies spent 20 years accepting surveillance capitalism as normal. And now, we're slowly remembering we have choices. Sure, switching browsers is a small thing. But small rebellions are how everything big begins, or so we like to believe. 🤞 If you think about those around you, have you noticed an increased awareness lately about what's behind the tech they use? #ethics #BigTech #browser

It's been three days since June ended...so if you're missing a little bit of rainbow in your life, here's a trick: 1. Go to Settings 2. Write "biscuit" in the search field 3. Enable the checkbox that says "enable rainbow mode" ...et voilà! You'll now have a rainbow browser load bar 🌈 #browser #pride

At Vivaldi, we have this saying: "when in doubt, make it a setting". We believe in user choice and we think nobody but you knows what's best for you. But choice paralysis is a real thing too, which is why we've introduced layout presets that will make your life easier. With just a few clicks, you can compare different combinations of how your browser could look and feel, try them out, and choose the one that feels right for you. And if none of the available presets is perfe...

As a browser company, we'll always put the user first. All of our features have been developed with you in mind. And we know (and appreciate) that everyone's different, so if you don't want to use any of them, you can just...disable them. It's that easy. 🙂 This is who we are, and we won't ask you to pay for that. But since we've gotten some requests during the last few days, we just wanted to remind our community that if this approach makes you want to support us, you c...

RE: https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon/116765910384325070 Vivaldi Social has just been upgraded to Mastodon 4.6! :tony_wee: Time to explore the new features! PS.The Tangerine UI themes have unfortunately been discontinued by their creator. You can still use them on this version, but we won't be able to continue maintaining these patches indefinitely, so it's probably time to start exploring some new themes. 🥲

Over the weekend we hosted a “dugnad” together with our friends at Hudd (a Norwegian social network) and @protonprivacy. A dugnad is a Norwegian gem of a word meaning communal work. As in "this job is too big for one person, but if we all pitch in, it won’t be so bad". The Digital Dugnad is about helping each other switch away from Big Tech and dumping them in the trash. We are honored and overwhelmed by the response! Huge thank you to all of the volunteers who hosted dugnads...
