Re: my last boost. Why are we supposed to be moving away from Github anyway? Mastodonians like to move away from apps and services for all sorts of reasons. I'm not up on the latest tech bro drama. I mean, organizational failures.

I'm staying in a duplex where there are two pianos. Why? A piano tuner and repair tech lives here. All that to say, not only am I broadening my Southern Washington and Oregon networks. I'm making friends in the music business just by virtue of hitting a button, buying a ticket and saying, I'm going back to the PNW this summer. All that to say, this is your gentle nudge to follow up with promising networking opportunities.

I wish there was a button you could hit that says, I'm still here. Just padding around the fediverse like a cat instead of stomping through it like an elephant. Since that doesn't exist, have this toot instead.

In November of 2022, I spent three days in a psych hospital because I scared the people around me. At one point, I said that I wanted to “kill myself digitally.” I said I wanted to “die online.” People heard self-destruction. What I meant was something very different. I was exhausted from performing versions of myself that were built for survival. Versions of me designed to keep the peace. To soften myself. To stay acceptable. To stay safe. To make other people comfortable at my own expense....

As I prepare to enter a legal profession, I have become even more interested in legal literature. So I renewed my student membership to Book Share. And that is when I discovered something that annoyed me. Not quite to the point of anger, but I was irritated. Court reporter books are still largely on paper. If I see a court reporting ebook, chances are it’s a novel, a story about the court reporting profession instead of a handbook or procedure manual. But if I type in words like paralegal, legal...

One of the hardest things for me to untangle as I’ve gotten older is the realization that understanding another human being is far more fragile than I once believed. When I was younger, I thought misunderstandings mostly came from bad intentions. Gossip. Cruelty. Dishonesty. And sometimes they do. But I think a lot of what happened in my life was much quieter and far more complicated than that. I think many people were genuinely trying to understand me while lacking enormous amounts of context,...

Night owl thoughts: Most people aren't reacting to the person we are today. They are reacting to the last version of us they remember, whether that version is current or not. It can take days, weeks, months, or even years for someone to update the snapshot some people have of us. Until then, they continue to respond to versions of us which are frozen in time.

Only seven months till the midterm elections. Seven months until we can hopefully keep this war-hungry, power-hungry bully of a tyrant in check.

I had the weirdest dream this morning. I went to an Apple store in Long Beach, California. I got suited up, as in put on my shirt, my walkie-talkie, and my work iPhone holster. But then I couldn't remember the passcode to the iPhone, and that was when I suddenly remembered that I didn't work for Apple anymore.

Just heard back from Monologue. They thanked me for my feedback and said they'll be improving the accessibility of the app. No timeline though.

I've been using ChatGPT for about a year now. I use the paid version, so its responses are personalized to my queries. Here is the prompt I just fed GPT as well as its response. I asked, given the capabilities you have today, what can you do to browse the web on my behalf? Here’s the honest, current breakdown of what I can and cannot do when it comes to browsing the web for you, so you can decide when I’m useful as a research agent and when I’m not. ⸻ What I can do for you (today) 1) Liv...

@mcourcel@allovertheplace.ca @bmoore123@tweesecake.social So let me get this straight. The standard version won't let you fill out forms, but the portable version will? I mean, I'm not gonna shoot a gift horse in the mouth, but, that sounds weird.
