Methane has a significant impact upon our climate but there's less talk about cutting it compared to CO2. Animal ag is a leading contributor to the methane levels from cows and can easily be cut by people going vegan. The only barrier to going vegan is willingness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3aHhhE0E54

The amount of land and resources going into feeding animals instead of people is quite disproportionate. From a rational stand point anyone who sees this would say that going vegan would be the most effective way of getting their nutrients. Going vegan is adaptation. ๐ฅฆ๐ซ https://mosoy.org/about-soybeans/soybean-uses/soybeans-as-feed/

Veganism is about ending the use and exploitation of animals though its impact goes further than that. It influences peoples beliefs, thoughts, actions and ideals about the world in which they live. Join today and let's change the world. #vegan #resistance

The scale of the systems involved in climate change, deforestation, plastic proliferation, animal exploitation, water demise, and more are immense. Changing them requires more than a mere cutting back. True change involves abrupt large scale cuts to the systems and all that drive them. We must envision systems and ways of living that are supportive of a healthy planet for posterity. Be the change!

@csgraves You have missed the point. Going vegan is worthwile. First it ends the cruelty, exploitation and killing of innocent animals. Secondly, the IPPC has stated it is key to curbing climate change. It's the lowest hanging fruit of combatting climate change due to it having no financial or technical barriers to adoption. Where as electrifying our cars, homes and other aspect of our personal life do have those barriers. People need to get off their butt and start somewhere.

I have become more distrusting of all things on the internet because of AI generated personas, images and content. What is going to become of the world when such distrust becomes imbedded and is the basis of all of our engagement? I feel sorry for the kids of the future living in a false world.

The trick to keeping people oppressed is the capitalists perpetuating the idea that housing is a good investment and it's appreciation is beneficial. However, people become trapped by continual rising housing prices and thus tied to forced labor just to stay housed. Appreciation is good for the rich.

Somewhere around 72% of Americans believe in Climate Change. That means climate scientists have done a good job of communicating the issue. However, few people are taking any steps to curb climate change. That means those who are specialists in creating change aren't doing a good job at leading it.

It's frustrating when I am on a website and find someone involved to be very interesting and worthy of following on social media. Then I notice in their bio that they are only on LinkedIn and Twitter. Both of the sites are full of racists, homophobes and I left the sites years ago. Do better people.

Imagine all the toys, clothes, tools, electronics, appliances and other items that are stashed away and not being used while more are being produced. We waste energy and resources by consuming too much.

We aren't going to cut methane emissions and deforestation with a few million people reducing their meat consumption by a few ounces a week. The scale of the issue requires a response that actually makes an impact. Going vegan is the only true action that will result in the change necessary. #vegan

I just want to throw shit when I see scientists saying we should eat meat more responsibly when it comes to fighting climate change. It's clear climate scientist aren't committed to the issue when they won't go vegan for the planet nor the animals. #vegan #climatechange #animal https://sustainability.yale.edu/explainers/yale-experts-explain-methane-emissions

I am seeing a common thread here that the left needs to adopt. Those that are masked don't get arrested while the unmasked left is always targeted by the authorities and arrested. The left needs to start wearing masks. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cmwyzxlzxpzgt

Most people haven't considered the consequences of having pets when it comes to the environment and climate. Just like people they consume large amounts of animal based proteins. Cat and dog food requires 214,000 tons of beef based meat products. The CO2 and methane produced just to have our cuddly furry friends is quite significant. We must consider them when we look at ways to curb climate change. #climate #vegan https://www.petfoodinstitute.org/economic-contribution-of-the-pet-food-ind...

@buermann@mastodon.social You haven't seen my prior posts from yesterday regarding the ineffectiveness of merely reducing the use of ruminants. Eating less won't change anything. Whole industries are dependent upon animal agriculture. The car tire industry alone requires that one cow be killed just to make 66 car tires. The leather industry uses 340 million cow hides each year to produce shoes and upholstery. Merely cutting back a few ounces of beef a week won't save a cow from...

The animal by-product industry is valued at over $24.5 billion. It's used in medicine, leather, animal feed, fertilizers, cosmetics, biofuels. People must stop saying that cutting meat consumption will curb climate change. The only solution is to go vegan. #vegan #climate #govegan #climatechange https://agriculture.institute/animal-by-products-utilisation/current-status-animal-by-product-industry/

Each of these paintings consist of many brushstrokes which collectively make up an image. I look at each brushstroke as a representation of the way an individual lives their life. How we live collectively is exhibited through our impact upon the planet. Changing our way of life, which is our individual brushstroke, to be more mindful of the climate, ecosystems, justice, and all that's around us can change the image from a Starry Night to a Great Wave.
