This piece in yesterday’s Observer caused quite a stir - and for all good reasons - in that I think it’s helped blow some myths about underperforming GPs. My Photography illustrated Polly Morland’s book ‘A Fortunate Woman’ (Picador, 2022) and whose anonymised Doctor is quoted here: Stress, exhaustion & 1,000 patients a day: the life of an English GP https://www.theguardian.com/society/2022/nov/27/stress-exhaustion-1000-patients-a-day-english-gp-nhs-collapse?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other

I don’t know for what greater metaphysical reason but I keep noticing pink items that have been dropped in the street. What distress has the owner been in, hours or days after the article has been lost? And how often do they ever come back and discover their missing glove or slipper, waiting to be seen and taken back home after damp nights outside? I need to know both answers. #Photography #LostAndFound #StreetPhotography Ten '(Pink) Lost And Founds': https://www.bakerpic...

@paulakirby@home.social Not too sure of the subtlety of the joke but I get the sentiment.

@ChrisJKelly@mas.to Thanks for letting me know this. Yes, I/we were always mindful to echo ‘some’ of the visual approaches that Mohr used (which I explored further as I worked) and while mindful of making a book that was both sympathetic but unique too. I’m pleased that you’ve picked up on this. Best wishes, Richard.

On the 3rd anniversary of the UK leaving the EU, I took a childhood-purposed walk from Southend to Shoebury Garrison today. Had I stayed four decades ago, how would I have voted myself - and would my ideas been different? More here for my Brexit walk: https://www.instagram.com/p/CoGGPgrIxo0/?igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=

@CorrieCorfield@toot.community Greetings, Corrie. I’d be surprised if you’d never heard of this work about Shipping Forecast areas by the Magnum photographer Mark Power from 1996. But it’s just been updated and expanded and It’s suspect (hope) you’d find it visually interesting. It’s a wonderful book but I endorse it without any personal connection: https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2023/feb/05/mark-power-shipping-forecast-photographs

It’s quite surreal to sit back and see that the book I illustrated with black and white photography is a bestseller. This does not routinely happen to photographers. But out of the 14,000 pictures I shot, I’m pleased that the 57 that made the final book edit are being seen by thousands of readers. Feedback is something I value when work is published and I’d love to hear from some of them #books #publishing #landscape #AFortunateWoman
