It’s technically illegal to shout “GitHub is down!” In a crowded theatre. Or is that the development department? I forget.

A reminder: With software vulnerabilities being given ever greater scrutiny, there are enormous incentives for threat actors to create highly secure, hard-to-spot backdoors, kill switches, and infil/exfil routes. Back to the ‘good old days’.

The sad truth is that all Proton customers either want to leave, but can’t due to lack of alternatives—or want to stay, but can’t because their CEO is an unstable fascist but hasn’t realised that he’s made the full transformation yet. Just a few tokens away from full-on psychosis. About 2 weeks from sponsoring Omarchy, I can see it now. So smart his brain hatched an escape plan and left.

@jonny this thread made me chuckle. Need to hand you a spade for the hole you were digging… BUT I happen to agree. The ONLY real value in passkeys is usability for the average person where it increases security over traditional unp/mfa. Unpopular opinion but I believe the added complexity makes it less secure than say, a FIDO key. I can’t prove this, but as an architect it feels more complex than it needs to be… which is usually when I’m correct. While attestation might be useful in a corpora...

These people would be impressed by literally anything. As Buddhists we frequently reflect on the profundity of the mundane. But these people are selling you the mundane (and often outright constructed) as profound.

Do game studios think that putting more games out more quickly will materially increase sales? Do they think this can be done sustainably? If all studios bump their production 200% and all competitors do the same… who gets the business? The rationale is cost saving, allegedly. But smacks of union busting and swerving employment law wherever possible. Do we think they’re going to lower their prices from £70.00/$92.00 with these radical cost savings? If a portion of the player base rejects t...

I’m so, so tired of being proved right 12 months later. And still treated like I’m a lunatic about the next thing I’m demonstrably right about. I’m not clairvoyant, I’m just not taken in by hype.

Have we seen a single instance of AI attacking anything yet? And by attacking, I don’t mean fucking morons automating exploit tools and pointing them at things. None of it is novel. Pull the other one.

Your first take on this might be “good!”. But look at the language used and the context Microsoft released this under. It puts the ideas on the table, much like Anthropic, that AI might kill us all, replace us, become sentient, or that it in some way deserves ‘rights’ or should be subject to wellbeing measures. https://www.theverge.com/news/994566/microsoft-humanist-ai-code-of-conduct By saying it out loud, you’ve created the other side of a debate that didn’t need to be had. Wake me up when...

Completely invisible to drones. Event the cheap stuff would hold a hefty boi. Area denial. Super common in conflict zones, just with higher test. Here’s the thing the AI companies, the security companies, and the misc tech vendors don’t tell you about the current vulnerability wave. Yes, coordinated disclosure is essentially dead. Yes, time to exploit is so small it is an irrelevant measure. But no, this will not persist. It can’t. At the very fundamental level, nearly all vulnerabilities can and will be fixed. Cont…

It’s interesting how different fedi instances alter image time metadata. Some instances appear to remove it all, replacing with the posted date and time, others appear to retain the original date and time. I’m pretty sure the latter isn’t standard behaviour.

I’m not saying the tech bros want slavery back. BUT their primary objective is making subservient things do everything for them and not having any right to recourse, or considering their societal impact, whilst being able to absolve themselves of all accountability. “AI is crashing so back to robot butlers I guess, but slap the half arsed chatbot on it too, execs will lose their shit. Who cares if it murders the olds?” I’ve seen cleaning and delivery bots in supermarkets, we’ve got robot law...
