@dsoft@techhub.social @watomatic@fosstodon.org I wish I had an answer, all I can say is that they clearly say "The app's use of [...] an identical green and white color scheme also falsely implies an affiliation with WhatsApp" probably refers to screenshot 4 on Google Play, a screenshot of WhatsApp itself (which you use as example). Logical steps would be to move the "not associated" text to the top of the description and maybe add "Unofficial" to the title but... Google doesn't abide by logic so... that likely won't help.

@dsoft@techhub.social @watomatic@fosstodon.org Speaking from our own history: we had to change our name from DAVdroid to DAVx5: You've almost zero chance. The first thing you would need is a lawyer and send them the official response and your sights. But at the end you will always be the weaker party (=less money). They will argue that you're free riding, using Whatsapp to make your own "business" ("your app wouldn't exist if there was no Whatsapp"). IMO u can only survive by removing any WA reference from text and images..

@dsoft@techhub.social @watomatic@fosstodon.org When we were in a tm conflict (not software related), we sat down and asked ourselves "of all the battles we must fight, is this one worth our energy now?" I'd say change your name, remove what they ask to be removed. Make some fuss about it. Get publicity. Maybe ask a (free) lawyer if that's enough and/or to write the letter informing you complied? Far better return on investment. So that you can do what you do best: write software that solves problems and helps people.
