I think part of it is that the plumbing does work quite as well as you get older (split stream, inconsistent stream, etc.). I know some millennial men who make the conscious choice to sit when they pee rather than stand. I think most of it is that boomer men have relied on a the labor of their moms and wives and never really learned to be anything but slobs.

That’s it. Someone else always did it for them. They don’t realize they’re pathetic. Peeing on the seat is on, just fucking wipe it down with TP before you flush. Jk I know they don’t flush either.

Yeah, they’ve rarely cleaned the bathroom and dealt with the piss rings. And even if they did, they’d do a piss poor job at it because of lack of practice.
