I think, if I was to do it, I'd use a commercial duplication and packaging service rather than trying to do the duplication and packaging myself. I also think I'd probably do a quarterly drop, rather than a monthly one, at least to start. Based on my initial investigation, I'd need to charge around $20 - $25 per release, and I'd need at least ~20 people on board to make it cost effective (and really 50 - 100 would be the sweet spot.)
