@superviviansunshine My needs are very minimal, but I've had good results with OpenShot: https://www.openshot.org/

@superviviansunshine I can't speak to it directly, but @kdenlive comes up constantly, in my circles.

@superviviansunshine There's a Linux version of Davinci Resolve - definitely the best choice for video editing, I came to it with basically no experience & was able to figure it out in short order 😁 (full disclosure, I haven't tried the Linux version myself)

i cant techinically vouch for beginner friendly per se because i technically learned a little final cut 7 ages ago and they have some similarities, but i was surprised how much i like working in kdenlive

@superviviansunshine I really like KDENlive. It's... beginner friendly enough for video editing, so long as you're comfortable with the idea of splicing and reordering clips on a film strip. I feel like as my knowledge has improved, KDEnlive has the functionality to match.

  • kdenlive is great but it might be overwhelming to someone new to video editing. OpenShot is a bit more straightforward for basic editing features.

@superviviansunshine I learned non-linear editing with Kdenlive, I recommend that as a lightweight but powerful editing tool. I use Resolve nowadays because it's more suited for professional workflows and is actually used in Hollywood a lot for color grading. Resolve is just particularly difficult to install on some distros.

@superviviansunshine Personally, I have used OpenShot. Explainingcomputers.com did a video comparing some options a couple of years ago, see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EJinF0uhe0

@superviviansunshine I just started using Kdenlive and I really like it. I found this tutorial playlist on youtube for how to use it. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLqazFFzUAPc7uQaoGxYwxGLk4_6fQrBvE

@superviviansunshine I mean, you can stitch and color grade also in Blender (if you hate yourself), but rule of thumb is that you will soon will want a better results, so... Why not starting from the professional software? Its free version is tons more what you would need from the beginning.
