Through my current obsession with Irish round towers, I had thought about the origins of the German word "Glocke" (bell), because the Irish for round tower is cloigtheach (bell house). I thought the German must be derived from Irish, and the etymological dictionary proved me right. Just one of the interesting side effects/ rabbit holes.
